Question for channel 2 folks. When does it stop being a Ranger? What are the “minimum’s “ to meet that criteria?
Well no matter what you do to it it’s always gonna be a Ranger. I mean you can’t keep throwing money and parts at it until it suddenly becomes a Tacoma lol. Well.. maybe with enough money and enough parts…

The reason I asked was because of this “ Jeep Cherokee” I ran into a the campground a few years back.

Let's use Finnish law in here for reference.

The Finnish law lists 17 pages of modifications and an addendum of 32 pages for modification principles which are legal. In practice, anything goes as long as thrust-to-weight* ratio doesn't increase more than 20%, original (and prior registration added) safety equipment works and you can reasonably exit the vehicle.

* = Yes, you can put wings and jet engine with afterburner on it (as long as it's withing legal vehicle size limits and the engine, with afterburner, does not exceed the said 20% ratio). All decisions subject to random inspector agents random views on life, universe and everything.

To sum it up. It's Ranger if you bought it as Ranger. No matter what ever change you make, it's still a Ranger. Even if you change every single piece of it and make it perfect copy of Aston Martin DBS it's still a Ranger (as long it's within the vehicle size, tire size, payload and what else limits of the original registration).

Now wait a minute! I'm a dad, a grand dad, and even a great-grand dad. My truck isn't stock looking. It has red lettering, and red tow hooks! And it certainly isn't stock under the hood! Two channels? Humph!
This.

Although let's wait while for the Grandad talk. ;)
