Now Doug, how could we talk a guy out of something like that? It’s pretty cool and I like that it’s on a newer platform. It would be way less fun w/o PB, PS, etc.

If you’re looking for something that isn’t going to become a project truck (bigger engine, different transmission, interior mods, etc), I’d say pull the trigger. If the novelty wears off in a few years and you tire of it or just don’t use it as much as you thought you would, you could likely sell it for about what you paid for it.

ok, it’s a Chevy. You’re welcome.
At least it's a Chevy with a Chevy engine in it. I can't tell you how many old hot rod Fords I've seen with Chevy drivetrains in them. Pisses me off to no end.

These thoughts echoed my own.

You would've loved my old man. He was a fan of Chevy powertrains in Ford bodies. His '55 Ford truck was oxide red primer, with a fully louvered clamshell front end hiding a 400 c.i. Pontiac engine. The only tell was Ford's better idea lightbulb airbrushed on the tailgate, inside the light bulb was a mouse chewing on a piece of cheese.

To make up for that sacrilege his other Ford truck was a '49 my great grandmother bought new of the showroom floor. It was a resto, flathead, 3 on the tree and all. My grandmother, father, sister, and I all learned how to drive in that truck. If I could get that truck back from the distant family who has it I would.

While the patina does have an appeal, that truck has real STYLE that is missing from most everything today.

JMO but I would paint it a popping shade of Orange, Green, or Yellow. A color that will really accentuate the curves it has.

This is providing that when you see the actual vehicle it doesn't turn out to be a 20/20 truck (looks good from 20 feet away or 20 minutes before dark)

Like most red-blooded American men I periodically cruise Craigslist.

Found this beauty the other day. And I keep coming back to the ad to see if it's still around. It's sitting at and appears to be built by a local shop I have experience with who does good work.

'48 Chevy on S-10 frame. 4 bolt 350, 4 wheel disc's, drop leafs and spindles, PS/PB, 5spd manual.

They're asking around $20k. It would be a driver for me, just to fart around in.

If I get some earlier nights in this week and/or it's still around Friday I think I'm gonna go check it out.

Discuss please. And throw out any advice you might have when checking it out.
When I first looked at the pics my dad's old `47 came to mind, then I read `48, likely very little differences other than he had the 5 window cab.

I like the way you think. A nice Canary Yellow or light green would look very nice. Plan would be to drive it as is for quite a while and make long term decisions.

Trying to be realistic in case it turns out to be a dud or goes before O get to it.

Nice! While it's not a Ford, and nowhere near as pretty as the '49 I mentioned above, nostalgia is playing heavy here for me.
Shut up and buy it already.
Milk monkeys were on a terror last night. Didn't get my hoped for early night so no go today probably. I'll be watching today hoping to get a call and look-see in on Thursday evening or Friday morning.

HAHAHA milk monkeys... I was very disappointed when my milk delivery service cancelled my area last year for lack of interest. it's impossible to get nonhom milk around here unless you know a dairy farmer.

have you at least called to see what's up with the truck? this suspense is killing me

I was sitting in rush-hour traffic yesterday with mini-me, and we spent a few minutes alongside a flat-bed tow truck with a similar truck on the back. I think that it was just the body and wheels (there were no windows, and I didn't see much of an interior; I'm guessing no engine either), but I could see the potential in it, and I think that even mini-me saw something too, although her first reaction was "That looks like Mater!" (From "Cars", for those who aren't current on Disney/Pixar movies)

Since @AzScorpion is still MIA, I'll make his obvious objection for him: "There's no damper!"

A cursory glance on google says you guys have got a lot of options for delivery in Cleveland. I know the folks at work who handle sales and expanded delivery areas have a lot to consider. I can't say I've ever seen us leave an area though. If you're ever in Denver let me know, I'll get you the good stuff.

Haven't called yet but I have a million questions. The only one that's really appropriate over the phone is "can I come check it out at this time?"
I'll try tomorrow or Friday morning at the latest.

Undamped and that thing likely has chains and not cables. Caution: Keep the milk monkeys from monkeying with it.
