Tailgate step?

I got to use the built into the bumper one on a GMC this weekend & I felt it awkward to use. I had to really hunt to find it & make sure my foot was in the wright place. I'll stick with my Gorilla ladder. Just my opinion.

Got the Bestop step a while ago. Tried installing today on my 2020 with factory tow hitch. Looked for Bestop video as mentioned on instruction but not available.

Got the bed bolt out with a 4’ pipe extension onto a 1” ratchet. It was tight.

Assembled the 2 large pieces with supplied bolts. Lifted assembly into area but the bed bolt hole is at least 1/4” away. Can’t move assembly closer since it hits the truck frame.

Thought that Bestop sent me a Passenger side one vs drivers but this is the only one made for the Ranger.

See pics below with arrows showing no room for horizontal movement plus gap caused where bolt goes.

When I reached out to Amp, I got the same answer. I picked up the Weather-Tech receiver step. This is the Weather-Tech step.

Your third plate pic isn’t blacked out. Wish Maine had nra plates ?

I wound up going to Plan B: a Westin Truck Pal tailgate ladder, for about one third the price of the Trek Step and immediate shipping.

I changed the OEM hardware for clevis pins to make it easier to remove completely, when hauling my MC & ramps:

They must be back in stock, then. All through the fall of last year and up to July, they were constantly pushing my order out. This was their boiler plate auto response I got every three weeks until I cancelled. Calls to them resulted in the same carrot-and-stick, "soon," "later this month," etc. Glad you got yours.

If only someone could figure out a was to get the slide out ford step in the ranger tailgate. That would be cool. Those tailgates are heavy as hell with the step however.

Got mine installed. Would have loved to get the Limitless Step from AU, but ~$1000. makes me feel good about only spending $300!

Anyway - after climbing into and out of my bed one time, its worth the price and I should have gotten it sooner!

Oh and the Bed bolt is a PitA to get to!
