I was looking at adding a tailgate light bar to my 2019. Everything that I’ve looked at says 60 inch light bar. When I measure the actual tailgate it’s 55. Am I missing something?

Ya, full size will not fit on our beds. You will need to use a shorter one. Fair warning, these light bars do not play nice with our electrical systems. There is a few threads on here about that.

They always look cheap and usually have multiple lights not working.

A quality, properly functioning light bar is a thing of beauty. My favorite generic light mod on any truck. I won't buy a cheap one and have it flicker or lights out in a month, and the good ones are way too expensive for something I never get to see in action..

Thanks for the info. I’m a bit confused that there are issues. When you plug in a trailer light harness, into the truck, obviously it works. Don’t you just tap off of those, or is there more to hooking a light bar up? All the electronics these days throws me for a loop, not as easy as it used to be, I’m 63, so you know I’m old school.

The problem with plugging a light bar into the trailer harness is the truck then thinks you are pulling a trailer and shuts off some of the trucks safety features. Also gives you a bunch of annoying warnings every time you start the truck. Such as Cross-traffic alerts and rear parking sensors. It also messes with the Blind Spot Sensing System. The solution that has been found to work, is to wire a 3 wire to 2 wire trailer light module directly to the taillight harness. Then use that to connect the bar. This bypasses the trailer wiring entirely.
