Tailgate damper…..A tail of support

Are you supposed to remove the driver side steel braided cable support after install of damper? I noticed mine is getting beat up after damper install.

No, you don't want to remove that cable. That is the support for the tailgate. The damper is not designed to support any weight on the tailgate.

No but you can put a velcro wrap around the cable so it doesn't get pinched between the damper and the side. I added a piece of black electrical tape to the bottom to keep it from sliding down.

Ahhh but it's not the mod that's faulty it's the OEM strap that is. See the Mod knew how to fix and mod the faulty strap. ?
