So I built a drawer system for the back of my ranger last fall, and I wanted to be able to keep the tailgate open so that the end of the tailgate is at the new height of the bottom of the box (including the drawer)

So I was looking at the tailgate thinking about it, and made up these steel brackets that use the stock bolt holes so that I can add some steel cables with carabiners to hold the tailgate open at a given position.
My thinking is that I can use the edge of the tailgate to help support anything that I would be carrying in the box that extends outside of it. (Nothing very heavy).
I'll post a couple pictures once I make up the cables - I went to buy the stuff to make the cables tonight and the store was already closed.
I searched the forums and didn't find anything like this, but I wasn't sure what to search for.
Any of you try anything like this?
If not, and you ever want to to try it, I'll say that the LS and RS of the tailgate have different bolt patterns so if you make two brackets that are a mirror image of each other thinking they will both fit, then you will have to throw one out and make a new one. ;P
I also swapped out the stock bolts for longer ones I had (5mm longer) to accommodate the thickness of the bracket.
