Has anyone had their dealer tell you they don't take outside financing? I guess this is a thing. I asked for the total for my truck scheduled to be delivered next week and they said they wouldn't take a check for my truck, only in house financing. No USAA or Navy Federal. That seems crazy to me. May not be getting my order after all.

Tell them you want the truck. Don't even give the impression you may want to back out of the deal. You ordered the truck and you want to complete your purchase. Call Ford. Someone here gave out the number you should call, but call Ford and tell them what the dealership is telling you. Ford wants dealerships to sell the car to the person that ordered it. The dealer will be glad if you back out because then they can mark it up and sell it to someone willing to pay more to get it now.

They do get a kick-back from some financing institutions but I thought there were laws in place where you weren't required to use their financing (e.g. you could arrange for your own financing or just plunk down cash).

In my case I went with the financing provided by the dealer because (a) it was less hassle and (b) they quoted me a good interest rate.

I could have just paid cash for the truck but I didn't want to tie up that much of my cash given the current state of the economy. :-/

That's a pure lie. Call Ford and report them. That's a license loser right there.
Burn them down.

Either way, Report them to Ford.
Ford wants dealerships to quit pulling this kind of crap on customers.

When I purchased my '22 XLT, I initially financed through Ford Credit to get the $1K discount. I know the dealer or the salesman got a commission from that but after 2 payments my FCU paid it off and I financed though them at a lower interest rate.

Sounds like you need another dealer. Which dealer is it?

Though, you may be able to use their financing and then immediately refinance it with your own lender. Just be sure there is no penalty for early/immediate payoff.

They are trying to BS you, they probably get some sort of kick back with their financing. What they are trying to do is illegal. Let them know that you will contact the State Attorney General or Consumer Protection Division if you are not allowed to finance at the institution of your choice.

Actually, I think Tim Bartz was saying that we need to keep the financing with Ford for 5 mos minimum or they lose their commission.

If his vehicle is arriving soon, then no, he doesn't want to leave this deal for another dealership. He needs to stay his ground and tell Ford what's going on. Ford expects dealerships to sell to the person who ordered it. If he tells them he's walking away from the deal, they are free to sell it to whomever.
.
He needs to hold his ground for the deal that was already made. Don't budge with the dealership for financing, add ons, market adjustments or anything. He needs to to get Ford involved right away and make it clear to the dealership he wants the truck as they discussed.
.
People, we need to hold our ground on these. When you order a vehicle and Ford requires COVP, Ford wants the order to go to you. If we walk away, the dealership will just do it again to the next guy.

Also you need to let the USAA and Navy Federal Credit Union know about this dealer so they can blackball them.

Question,
There are several posts this morning in the '2023 Support' thread that they have a scheduled production week of Oct 17. Those seem like some quick moving orders going from 8/25 orders to 10/17 est build dates.
What was the normal wait time before from the date the order was COVP to getting a build week?

Well, much to my surprise, my dealer called and said my Ranger was delivered to the dealership one day earlier than Ford’s estimate! I am not able to pick it up until next week, but here are the pics he sent me.

Your time between production starting and getting delivery of it seems really short. Is this the norm between production and delivery?
