Does anyone with a super-cab have to slam the rear door for it to latch properly? I noticed on my 2020 Ranger, the rear door meets the bottom sticker before the top, compared with the passenger side. The passenger rear door closes with ease compared to the driver side rear door. It appears that the rear door needs to be bent at the top for the top and bottom meet there respective strikers at the same time. Any thoughts? It’s been like this since new.

I currently experience this mildly but the opposite passenger rear door is a slightly heavier effort to close vs the driver side passenger door. Could be a slightly off but still within tolerance alignment of the door and whatever required components involved ?

That’s just how I justified it as it’s somewhat tolerable.

Two options - With a helper to SUPPORT the door, back off the (DOOR) hinge side bolts and lightly push inboard just a tad.
It should be on a serrated plate to allow adjustment.
Plus, you may try (if they are adjustable) moving the strikers outboard just a tad.

The manuals only show adjustments on the door hinges (not the strikers) but if you are lucky, they are, and it would be a simpler project.

I would possibly use the other doors a ref guide for Gap measurements around the door and use as a transition guide (even) between the edge of the front door and edge of the rear door.

An idea would be to get a floor jack - propped up on wood blocks and raise just enough to support the door from dropping down (hampering) what you are needing to do, this way you only have inboard and outboard movement to contend with,

It may take a few tries to get it perfect

Thank you. I will try adjusting the door with a helper. Hopefully there’s inwards movement at the top hinge. The bottom striker has some play but it self centres once the countersink screw's are tightened. The uppers strike has a plastic cover that’s says “airbag”, so I’m a little hesitant to remove the cover to investigate. I suspect it’s a door adjustment issue as the top gap is considerably larger than the gap on the passenger side when the door is closed without slamming. The door has some in and out play unless slammed closed due to the gap at the top. Anyhow, thanks again, I will definitely try your suggestion.

Both rear doors of mine close with ease. Smooth, like butta. I hope yours just needs a simple adjustment.

I hope so too. I hope the adjustment doesn’t through off the front door from latching into the rear.

Lariat SuperCab FX4 - that’s quite the unicorn Tom. ?

Mine don't always close properly but if I put my hand at the top/front of the door
& push shut it always closes properly. No slamming required.

Yeah, I lucked out. I had a situation at my local dealer with a bait and switch they tried to pull on me, long story. I found this one on a lot 3 hours away. It had been sitting for 5 months, probably because it was fully loaded, but it was exactly what I wanted. Actually, it had more stuff than a wanted, but the color and interior were want I wanted and it was a Lariat, so I gave them a credit card # and drove up to snag it. Very pleased with it.

yes, I noticed the same thing. The door is not aligned properly. There’s too much gap at the top when door meets top latch. Hoping someone experienced the same thing and resolved it. Yours is probably a little better aligned than mine. I still have to use strong force at the top to close it without slamming. Thx

Not being a smart arse.....but if it has been giving you trouble since new, why didn't you take it to dealer when warranty was in effect ??? Why wait till now when the warranty is gone (unless you have ESP) ???

I don't use that door often but you’re right, I should have reported it. Although sometimes they make it worse. I’m not too impressed with my dealer.

Same issue, except it doesn’t have to get slammed, but closed noticeably more forcefully than the passenger. It’s never been a big deal, so I’ve never looked at it.
