As happens many times, just read this thread. Bit late but that's the story of my life. Learned something too...... learned that it still sucks not having D Fresh around here.
There is no separate button for the AdvanceTrak. If you hold down the traction control button for 5 seconds (maybe 10 seconds), you get a pop up on the dash saying the AdvanceTrak is off.Does anyone have an image of where the AdvanceTrak button is located?
Question regarding Sand Mode. I've only tried it once, but doesn't it change the way the vehicle accelerates - I recall it became very peppy on acceleration. Also, can Sand mode be used at higher speeds? If I recall, it felt like Sand mode was limited to lower speed so I stopped using it. I drive at higher lake bed speeds and just want 4WD.
As for RSC (roll stability control), I've run into this often and it basically shuts everything down. This creates a new issue when driving at speed - i.e. not good!
I found a good deal on a used set of tremor rims and tires so I picked those up and replaced the non-matching spare and have one to put in the bed.Are you going to buy a 5th rim of your type? if not and if it doesnt matter, i can't say about mounting but to buy the rim go to EBAY! they have "take off" rims for $60. I am in a 2wd but i do a lot of long distance on dirt roads with sharp rocks so i sometimes carry a second spare just in case and found that we can get rims pretty easily/ the trucks are mostly shipped with the stock rims so when someone upgrades they take them off and the old ones go to a warehouse.. these are just the 16 inch cheapo rims that come with an xl like mine but if it is just for an emergency spare it might work depending on how big your wheels and tires are....
I went in Sand mode, traction control off and 4H today and liked it a lot. Vid attachedThere is no separate button for the AdvanceTrak. If you hold down the traction control button for 5 seconds (maybe 10 seconds), you get a pop up on the dash saying the AdvanceTrak is off.

In Sand mode, it revs up quicker.I just turn off traction control when driving in sand, and feel with my right foot.
For most places a second spare is overkill BUT: any of us who go thru Death Valley back roads or similar desert like AZ will tell you a second spare is nearly essential. Some of these roads are famous for having sharp rocks that slice up tires. Ive been fortunate and it only happened to me once but wow if you hit one wrong/ even going 10 mph they just slice you right up. Multiple flats are fairly regular on some of these roads. I find that keeping it to 20mph or less is a huge help but a lot of 4x4 people want to go faster and they run more risk of being sliced up. /and we're 30-60 miles from pavement and even farther from a shop in these cases so yeah// while somewhat rare, there are some situations where a second spare is very good to have.As for the second spare, honestly tire technology has come a long way over the years(that said some tires are still junk). Unless you are going to a place that is so remote and there is no one near for days and you are alone I don't see a reason to have a second spare with the vehicle.
It's your call from there
And the same individuals don't air down either. That does not help OffRoad at allFor most places a second spare is overkill BUT: any of us who go thru Death Valley back roads or similar desert like AZ will tell you a second spare is nearly essential. 50/50.. i think these days most of the off roaders i see have on board compressors/ but once they air down they tend to go even faster, negating most of the safety benefit of airing down// but to your point yes, not airing down will definitely increase the chances of getting a flat from a sharp rock. I think the flat i got was before i had a compressor even though i was going really slow... Anyway when getting a flat far from pavement, having an extra spare is very comforting. And the same individuals don't air down either. That does not help OffRoad at all
Anytime I'm going offroad traction control off, then advance trac off. I'm normally in sport mode with me shifting the gears in manual mode. I don't usual mess with the terrain managment because the all want to be in 4wd. I stay in 2wd until I actual need 4wd. I slide and drift corners very easily and sometimes the roll stability will kick in which makes me mad! Normally it only kicks in if I'm really hammering down running like 50+mph and taking turns and sliding alot. But with "normal" trails/dirt roads I can slide and drift the turns without it kicking in.There is no separate button for the AdvanceTrak.
