Hey all,

I finally was able to take the tremor out for its first proper off-roading day on the Transcontinental Railroad Backcountry Byway Route here in UT (awesome trail)

The truck ran perfect, my only complaint was the rear end never felt planted enough. Coming out of corners I was either out of boost and not accelerating as fast as I wanted or I was in boost and the tires were spinning. Mid corner the truck wanted to oversteer to the point where it would want to spin out and I couldn't control a slide (probable skill issue). I was aired down to 25psi all around

I'm thinking of adding a second spare tire and a 5-gallon jug of fuel to add weight to the rear end and have some extra gear.

What are people doing to mount spare tires and fuel jugs in the bed? Pictures and/or advice appreciated!

I bet the traction control system was pulling power from the wheels. it takes some of the fun out of it but keeps you safe. I think you can turn the system mostly off but would not recommend it. not sure what rear shocks come on the tremor package but if they are anything like the fx4 shocks they could be part of why the rear feels sloppy. many of the 5g crowd has put on new rear shocks and loved the results. great picture!

I don’t know if you played around with the terrain management modes, but some settings moderate the throttle response so that it’s harder to spin the tires on loose/slick surfaces. Maybe give those a shot if you haven’t.

Probably, I had the advanced traction control turned off, but TC was still kicking in every once in a while. I do wish I could turn it all the way off!

The tremor has the Fox 2.0s. From what I've read, they are supposed to be better than the Ford Performance Fox 2.0s and much better than the FX4 suspension.

I've played around with them a little but not on this trip. Do any of the modes allow you to be in 2wd? I didn't mess with them because I didn't need 4wd. I've seen too many people snap axles from being in 4wd and being on similar trails.

I'll definitely have to play around with them some more though!

one thing the extra spare may do in the bed is add a bit of weight on the rear axle for some more grip. a second spare is always a good idea.

How was the truck set up?

Drive mode? D, tow/haul, or Sport?
Locker? AdvanceTrak?

Definitely, adding weight to the rear for grip is what I'm wanting to do and adding another spare has multiple benefits!

I was running 25psi in the tires (stock tires)
Sport mode
2wd
Normal mode on terrain management
AdvanceTrak off (held traction control button until "advancetrac off" pops up)

It sounds like to me the nannies were holding you back at higher speeds, and by trying to compensate for that you were getting too loose at slower speeds.

The only way to turn off RSC (roll stability control) is Sand Mode. Try it. I don't play in sand much but Sand Mode, Sport, AdvanceTrak off, and locker on is my recipe for low traction fun. It's 4wd, which you have an aversion to for some reason, but I'd bet you like it. If it can handle my snowy parking lot fun I'm sure it can handle the sand.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Sport mode and 4H is the ticket, but I didn't try this with Sand mode enabled and my wheels kept locking up and acceleration stops, likely when I start drifting in loose dirt. It's like not having an engine when this occurs. :curse:

Sand mode is the bees knees... it allows for wheel spin. Makes the skinny pedal very responsive to input from the foot.

As happens many times, just read this thread. Bit late but that's the story of my life. Learned something too...... learned that it still sucks not having D Fresh around here.

Does anyone have an image of where the AdvanceTrak button is located?

Question regarding Sand Mode. I've only tried it once, but doesn't it change the way the vehicle accelerates - I recall it became very peppy on acceleration. Also, can Sand mode be used at higher speeds? If I recall, it felt like Sand mode was limited to lower speed so I stopped using it. I drive at higher lake bed speeds and just want 4WD.

As for RSC (roll stability control), I've run into this often and it basically shuts everything down. This creates a new issue when driving at speed - i.e. not good!
