Is your commute a lot of hills/mountains or mostly flat? What am I doing wrong? I have 2200 miles on the truck and avg 16.8 mpg. I see all the post about great gas mileage and I can just squeeze 250 miles out of a 18gallon tank. I have the 4x4 sport and not the FX4 package, didn't think that 4x4 would lower the expected mpg by 5-6. 90% of my driving is highway running 65-70 mph. Any suggestions on improving the gas mileage.![]()
Do you have larger than stock tires? Are you driving aggressively? Like always heavily accellerating instead of slowly? What am I doing wrong? I have 2200 miles on the truck and avg 16.8 mpg. The lift will decrease gas mileage , but not that much...something else is wrong, do a hand calculation and see if its different. My Ranger is stock from the factory and haven't done any mods to it, except last night I did do the 2.5' level kit, I generally don't dog it or drive aggressively. I'm actually thinking of taking it to the dealer to find out why the mpg is so low. I have maintained all the tires to recommended inflation and my drive to and from work is basically flat driving here in DFW.
"I generally don't dog it or drive aggressively" is a very subjective statement. One persons conservative driving style, is another persons aggressive style. That's why I was asking about numbers/rpms during acceleration. My Ranger is stock from the factory and haven't done any mods to it, except last night I did do the 2.5' level kit, I generally don't dog it or drive aggressively. What’s involved In the full bolt on ?Full bolt on 91 octane and driving around town I'm getting 9.3 mpg so really bad.
MPG will get better over time once the engine breaks in a bit more. What grade fuel you running? What % ethanol? What am I doing wrong? I have 2200 miles on the truck and avg 16.8 mpg.
