I never understood why some drive way down to the warning light to begin with. I always try and fill up between 1/2-3/4 left and it's not good to run it really low.
My rule of thumb is fill up at 1/4 and never lower. This applies only knowing that a station is in the vicinity otherwise will fill sooner if uncertain about station availability.

I'm the same Paul as I don't like to take chances in unfamiliar areas. I meant to say 1/2 -1/4 left in my first post. :headbang:

I was curious so I tested my company commuter, 2006 Escape way past 0km many times. I hit 70 km one time, and ran out once at 61km another time. My F150 I only tested once, and it died at 38km passed 0. I had cans on board for the tests, would never run it like that without a reserve.

The average isn't correct. I'm leaving it on with remote start. I need to do more high way to get it to get a better average. Before I did a reset it was 22mpg

So the total mileage racked up on my trip to Overland Expo East and post-expo camping ended up being
2,513 miles.

My total trip average was 17.74 mpg out of 9 stops to fuel up. My best single run was 18.46 mpg and my worst was on the return at 16.79 mpg. All but one of the stops I fueled up using 89 octane.

My truck bed was loaded with all my camping gear. Plus the added weight of the steel rack and roof top tent. While on the highway we usually would set cruise to around 76mph.

By the way this trip also included a lot of slow off-road crawling, climbing up a mountain to our campsite at 3,500 feet, as well as a lot of idling as we enjoyed the areas we explored.

Tremor crew cab with camper shell and I consistently average 23 mpg on the computer. My last tank I got over 400 miles on 18 gallons so 22.25 calculated. I drive up to the mountains on weekends and combined highway and city on flat Phoenix roads.

I do too.... My out-of-gas example was in '97 shortly after I bought my brand new Jeep Wangler. it registered 1/2 tank but was empty. Jeep recalled the fuel pump/sending unit assembly about 3 months later.

Same here. I've had the truck 11 months 28k miles and same mileage

4x2 xlt, no damper or engine cover.
Well…AZ would say that’s the problem. ?
