Hi David, thanks for your input.

I will give it a try to reprogram it.
Otherwise I buy the same one as you have and see how that works.

I'm in the US with a petrol '22 Ranger.

I installed the Start-X remote starter.

The doors and hood must be closed for mine to work (doesn’t matter if the tailgate is open or removed).

For mine, I had two options when programming. The 3-lock sequence like you have OR lock-unlock-lock. I did the latter.

Do you have the option to change how you start it?

If not, have you tried to reprogram it?

I'd probably fully disconnect it and then reinstall/reprogram it - good luck!

Again - if your BCM is not programmed (enabled) it will never work, no matter what brand you use.
This is why we need to see what the (As-Built) data files show.

Here is a screenshot of a As-Built Data File and what it looks like the ROW Rangers (May) have it disabled - IDK - You will have to input your VIN# on the website or use Forscan to view the files and what they are currently set.

You need 726-20-01 and 726-22-02 to match what the below pic shows, if these match then figure out how to program the module you have or switch it out for the Start-X module which have been proven to work with the Ranger.

That page shows 2 modules, did you get the one that says selectable on dash?
Oh wow, as far as I remember, there was only one option when I got it.

But, you're right, there are 2 now.

I got the lock-unlock-lock one.

I had done a bunch of research at the time and the one I have seemed to be the only one that would work.

I don’t have the bigger center console screen and it only does Bluetooth calling, no maps, no touchscreen. I'm pretty sure I don’t have any settings for that. I do have settings for how the keyfob unlocks my 2 scab doors - either only the passenger or both. (I always set my cars to only unlock the driver door, in case of the zombie apocalypse).

My XL isn’t push button start, I don’t have a door keypad, no adaptive cruise control, no FX package - it's really bare bones.

Sorry I missed your question and do keep asking until you figure it out. =)

Gee, looking at the Start-X website, it now looks like the only option for key start and push to start is the lock unlock lock sequence.

BUT ... if you have the push button start, it does look like you can do lockX3 according to this page: https://remotestartx.com/2021-ford-...ock-Unlock-Lock,to carry an additional remote.

The difference is that if you are a key start only, then it seems like you can only do lock unlock lock.

If you have push button, then you can program for either one.

Ugh, I'm sorry this is so confusing! =(

This FTW!

Airline tech is like Neo, only way better because he knows the Ranger. =)

So, as I suspected it is disabled

Change: 726-20-01 to Read: 0303-0303-035D

Change: 726-22-02 to Read: 0001-0101-AAFD
The 0000 needs to read 0001 - As xxx0 = Disabled - and xxx1 = Enabled
I would leave the (0101) initially but you may try changing it if the above does not work
as that line code (x1xx) differs from the US Version - However it MAY tie into your issue, only for the fact that it is not really the Door Ajar - Circuit that triggers the Wake, it is what happens when you do. (Courtesy Lights) Trigger On

and then check the others listed below - The above 2 are the most important.

So, I am not sure what would happen (operation) if you change this and the (Bold Note), but then again this could possibly tie to your issue as well. (IDK) for the initial change leave this as is.

BCM Code.jpeg

and for reference from above post

BCM:
Remote Start (Enable/Disable)
726-22-02 - 0001-0001-AAFD (xxx1-xxxx-xxxx) 1=enable 0-disable
(Change the 0 to a 1)

Remote Start Duration: Factory is set to 15 Minutes, for this line.
726-20-01 - 0303-0303-035D (x3x3-x3x3-x3xx)
0=Off / 1=5-minutes / 2=10 minutes / 3= 15 Minutes
(Change 0 to a 3) for factory settings

Remote Start Lighting (Control) Parking Lights (on) with remote start
726-41-02 - 0101-0101-0074 (xxxx-xxx1-xxxx) 1=enable 0-disable
(Change 0 to a 1)

IPC:

Remote Start Feature (Enable/ Disable)

720-02-02 - 0B88-F9B7 (Factory Lariat Setting)

720-02-02 - 1008-A9EC (Factory XL Setting)

Now this one is tricky as it incorporates various controls to Enable/Disable
so, this ties in the Trim Level (options) Heated Seats, Rear Window Heat etc.

So, for this one I will need to know what your line reads (here)
But the breakdown is this and it depends on the current features of your truck
0xxx-xxxx - Park Lock Control - Disable --- 1xxx-xxxx - Enable (So PB vs Keyed Start)
xBxx-xxxx - Passive Entry/Passive Start - Enable - x0xx-xxxx - Disable
xx8x-xxxx - Rain Sensing Wipers - Enable --- xx0x-xxxx - Disable
xxx8-xxxx - Unknown - But both truck ops are the same so it's not a setting that needs changed
xxxx-Fxxx - Heated Seats Climate Settings -Enabled - xxxx-Axxx - Disable
xxxx-x9xx - Remote Start/Rear Defrost - Enabled - so the same for both trims

Thanks again Airline Tech, you are a true wizard.
I just ordered the OBDLINK MX, as soon as it has been shipped in, I will give it a try.

Hi Airline Tech.
I have finally manage to get an OBDLink MX+ and hooked it op with the car.
Attached the numbers I got from the scan (pictures attached)

Changed 726-20-01 to Read: 0303-0303-035D
Gould NOT change 726-22-02 to Read: 0001-0101-AAFD it stays0001-0101-AAFE

I had not the balls to change : 726-20-01 cause from both types the inputs differ so very much,
I was afraid to change something that wil get me in trouble.

Still the JS Remote start only works when a door is open (or nog closed proper).

But I did get de irritating double honk disabled when leaving the running car en close the door.
That was a big victory already hahaha.

Hope someone can still help me out how to get my car remotely started when the door are closed.

Thank you, appreciate all your help

Ok - I have a hunch that if you change the IPC to enable the Remote Start Feature the Checksum in the BCM will possibly change from (FE to FD)
The most important is it accepted the (1) to enable (726-22-02)

For the IPC line, the (5982) is different due to the fact you do not have Front Park Sensors or the switch for it.

So, change 720-02-02: From 5982-0107 -- TO: 5982-A9xx, the last 2 (hex codes will change automatically)
By changing the 01 to AB
You are enabling the Remote Start Feature in the IPC Module, this also will enable the Automatic Climate Control (When in Remote Start)
If you have Heated Seats instead of AB use FB, as this will also enable the heated seats during remote start.

Once this change is made, I think the (Checksum) of the BCM will possibly change automatically change from FE to FD

I hope that with the IPC enabled (Remote Start) this will get it working correctly.
Note this will add the menu to the IPC screen, you may have to go in and (Enable) select Remote Start in the IPC Menu once the menu itself is enabled.

Good info.

Has anyone noticed the remote start feature on the Start-X not work after changing the battery?? Windows will still lower and close when locked or open on 3 unlocks.
Does a BMS reset correct this?

You should do the BMS new battery installation reset regardless. It may solve your problem.

Since I am not familiar with the Start-X install and setup, I am sure all it needs is to reset the Start-X box since power was dropped off of it, it appears it dumped whatever memory settings it had and needs to be redone to reprogram it.

My problem was pure stupidity.
I must have had at one time or another or maybe it cleared when I changed the battery….but in the settings under remote start the system box wasn’t checked.
Once checked, everything back to normal.

Only if one of the doors is open, or not fully closed it will work.
Don't know if you have any other options left to try?
I highly appreciate all of your help and time you put in.
Thanks again
John
