Recovery wooden boards are cheaper and work just as good.

Change my mind.

But seriously, any reason I shouldn't? 10x2 with nubs all over it. I think I have that in my scraps pile. I have sealer and some paint from the store might run $10 max.

They call them "WHACKtrax" boards which made me laugh.

I can make a wood version as intricate or simple as basic as my imagination will take me.

As mentioned, weight would be the biggest drawback to them.

I don't think they'd be any thicker than the plastic recovery boards, they just wouldn't "nest" like the plastic ones do.

And you'd lose the optional capability of using the board as a shovel, albeit a very poor shovel.

Cheaper and useful out on the trail. You can use them under a jack for stability, burn them, or cut them to suit your need.
Actually, that is one pretty big bonus I hadn't thought of, under the jack, hmmm...

Just won't get you the off-road cred with your buddies at the mall.
I have been thinking more about this and I think if you took them out and ran over them a bunch on a gravel road, get a little dried mud on them, chip a corner or two, maybe leave them out in the weather for a few months, they might just impress...

I have this thing it’s made out of rubber and very flexible. Folds nicely and stores in a Velcro nylon bag. It’s meant for snow but will work on anything really

Very nice and compact. It would prove useful to keep in our family car too. Who makes them and where can one buy them. Thanks!

THIS looks like it could be them.

Looks to be a good sized mat too.

Sure does look like them. Mine has a collapsible plastic shovel that comes with it. That might last one snow bank digout before it breaks into an unusable relic of the bonus tool ?
