Rear spring comparison

I am considering aftermarket springs. Icon, Old Man Emu, and leaning toward #APGDeavers. I’d like same towing, load carrying or better, with articulation for rock crawling and smooth ride on highway and over speed bumps. Anybody do a comparison, or what is your experience?

If you want more articulation, more clearance, factory towing capabilities and want to go OffRoad with little to no issue Old Man EMU would be a great option. I ran the Old Man EMU basic nitro kit on my Ranger for over a year and it did well. I had way more clearance and articulation than most on here since most do a leving kit only. I also got to tow with it and it did just fine. As for loading the rear it depends on what you plan to load to what rear springs to choose.

The standard rear leafs will take about 800 lbs before leveling out. The medium springs can take a 660 lb load while maintaining lift height and the heavy load springs can handle 1320 lbs at lift height.

Shock options are the nitro charger(comfier compared to stock) and the BP-51 shocks(far superior and was a plan for my truck until recently).

If you are looking for trail riding while staying cabale on the street Old Man EMU is definitely something to consider. I actually have a few write ups on a different thread.

I don’t know anybody running OME’s so I appreciate your input. I have Icon UCA’s and Fox 2.0 front coil overs with 2.0 shocks rear. That leveled the truck out. I’m running 285x70Rx17 BFG M/T’s on Raceline’s.
I’m not looking to lift any in the rear. I only carry camping gear occasionally. I wish I could see these in action.

Honestly I would just recommend the basic Old Man EMU springs to you. Yes it does lift the rear but again you get more articulation and you can still tow with no issues

Does it get rid of the ranger lean? The passenger side being higher.

I just put in the Icon leaf springs yesterday but the ride quality compared to the stock springs are much better and quite noticeable. The frost is coming out of the roads here in N. Illinois and the country roads are atrocious so it's easy to get a feel for how they soak up the bumps. I have them set up in the as shipped config with my topper and it did lift the rear a bit (I didn't measure, but everyone says it will settle after time). I have Icon shocks and coilovers as well.

I can't help with the towing obviously but I'll be interested towing our small travel trailer.

Not really.
Funny, I never noticed the lean till I read about it on here. Looking at the spring perch, #Ford put two spacers on drivers side and passenger has one. Still leans though.

Correction, there is 1 spacer on the drivers side. The other part you notice is part of the factory leaf pack

I did leave out the helper spring. I probably have around 175 lbs between the topper and gear on a day to day basis.
