Hey guys I got a leaking rear diff. It seems to be leaking right where the driveshaft meets the diff. Is this a common issue?

Yeah, like an oil pan, or rear main seal leaking. If its not leaving a puddle, every time you park, i would not worry.

Don't know if it is common for the Rangers but I know it was replaced three times in 46k miles on my F150. A shop can do it for a couple hundred bucks or you can try it yourself for maybe $50 including a quart of gear oil to refill the diff of what leaked out. Either way, make sure the diff has fluid in it or you'll have to replace the bearings.

Yeah it’s pretty norm at this point. Just make sure it doesn’t puddle and check every 30k miles

A ford with leak around the pinion seal? That's never happened before . . . .

That actually looks very wet in one spot. It's usually a few hundred to fix, so I'd fix it. If it were slower, you could just pull the fill plug periodically and squirt some fluid in there and keep trucking. There's not a huge volume of fluid in there though, so don't let it go dry.
