Heading out of town to check snow load on my cottage tomorrow - storms in the area are expected to end today withh clear skies tomorrow. I received this alert today from the local PD…

“ALL ROADS” - it’s a big area (3,500 sq. miles) with a ton of roads. Hmmm, it just might make for some great Rangers in Snow pictures.

* runs out to garage to make sure recovery gear is in the truck and not on garage shelves - tosses a shovel in the bed before heading back in

First snow with the Flying Ace. Picked him up last Tuesday and headed out Wednesday morning for a 3 day camping field trip with my 5th grade students. I'm really looking forward to getting to play in the next snow!

Snow pics from today. Da Ranger got us to the trailhead and moved all the machines as well. We have about 3ft on the ground now.

At the Trailhead chatting with other friendly mutt owners. Note the puppy in someone's arms.

Wally was told to go down into the canyon.

And get on the dead-fall.

He leapt off which surprised me.

We do trian our dogs. Making them do things is goooood for them. It really was deep.

Here is a few snow pics from skiing today. NOAA says we'll get more this week and there's not all that much ice on the lake. The less ice that's on the big lake, the more snow we get here.

We are doing signage updates to the trails we care for. Dearest took her skis off, but the snowpack is actually much deeper than it looks like here.

Oh dear, here is some pics a took a week ago but never processed them. With the lake cooling and ice growing, snow is really tapering off for us. :crying: This is normal spring stuff.

Looks at dashboard.

So let me get this straight... you're going atleast 30mph on RWD in icy weather with all lights on, no wipers, doors open, no seat belt and taking pictures.

btw: nice pictures.
That's uh, tow/haul mode on, traction control off, for the yellow lights behind the steering wheel, you can't see that its in 4WD, and yeah 30 in less than three inches of accumulated snow on the road. Seat belt on, doors closed? Don't know how you got that. Snow wasn't sticking to the windshield, didn't need the wipers. As you can see from the picture, not much to hit in the second or two it took to snap the image. No ice, nice hardpack snow with a fresh set of Nokian winter tires, it's like driving on a wet dirt road. Didn't even look at the phone to snap the photo, so no moment of inattention.

Should've seen how I drove once I was on a private road! ??

Thanks for the back story and the details. Clarifies the assumptions based just on a picture (while assuming the worst). The two warning lights are like blurry with right hand being a "tuck like" so assumed doors open & seat belts for the other.

Seen here this weekend. Our snow is shutting down but seems we are over 200 in town. Other locations not far away are coming up on 300"..

We still have maybe a foot and a half in McCall but I'm not up there to get any pics. Down here in the flatlands we are in a heat wave and should hit mid 70's today.

Yep, still winter here in Northern Minnesota. Anywhere from 1-3' of base left still. And it was down to 13F this morning.

Also, for reference I enjoy checking in on this site every once in awhile. So much data!
https://www.nohrsc.noaa.gov/nsa/

Here's the current snowpack (est) across the contiguous US, as of this writing. Besides the mountains, looks like only Maine and the northern Great Lakes have any left.
