Hi Folks,

Do not recall if this has been posted before.....
Neat to video post, poor to use. Should I list all the things wrong with that system?

Hi Arly,

As an expert, I would be interested in your assessment... Go for it...list the things wrong...I am always open to learning from those with experiences far beyond mine...

Look forward to your assessment!

Best,
Phil

I test drove one today in the snow. Not for too long but I was very impressed by how quick the truck corrected itself when the rear end started to come out around a corner.
Posted last week but I had my Tremor out in a state park and had some fun/testing time in about 12” of snow in un groomed parking areas. Best I have ever had in the snow and I have had a bunch of trucks, all 4x4.

Lots of people add pods to there 4wd SUV and you seen them up FS a few winters later. Grief includes transmissions run hot from high out-outputs at low speeds. I knew some guys who kept a rebuilt transmission on hand! MY world revolves around working type of machines. In the case of these "drive on type" pods, I have no idea how they could keep from ripping up your tires asap. These must use some type of anti-rotation system on them. Pods normally have a gear reduction using a smaller sprocket to help your drive line with the high stress. Ours are 70% of the original tire diameter which is a common reduction but maybe there is some reduced I didn't note in this style. I test drove a jeep with pods but suppose I can find the pics now!

Here is some pods I've used over the years.

This trip is not as eventful as @dondonbabyraptor ’s outings, but I’m certainly having fun. I headed up to a friend’s cottage on a small frozen lake in Muskoka…

Up here, the cottage roads are not well-travelled in the winter and the snow pack on them is deep and soft - it’s easy to slide off into the ditch. You can see in a couple of the photos where someone got off track a bit.

True North was purpose-built for these conditions and it did not disappoint. You can’t go wrong when you start with a platform like the 5g Ranger!

Looks at dashboard.

So let me get this straight... you're going atleast 30mph on RWD in icy weather with all lights on, no wipers, doors open, no seat belt and taking pictures.

btw: nice pictures.

Anyone have issues with snow getting stuck in the rims and throwing them out of balance? This is the first truck I’ve ever had this problem with. After every snow it seems like my teeth want to rattle out.
I haven't had that issue so far in the ranger, it's usually ice build up when I have experienced it in other vehicles and a night in the garage solves it.

A few weeks ago my Crosstrek got so much snow and ice in the wheel well that it was actually rubbing against the tire when I turned.

We are about to get hit with more snow and ice tomorrow morning. 8-12 inches of snow is one thing but I'm not liking the 34/" to 1" of sleet and 1/10 to 2/10 of ice we will get first. I think I'll leave the Ranger in the garage for a couple of days.

Loved the story and adventure Duke! Thanks for tagging me in this, it must of slipped through the notifications from being away for too long :p

I love True North photos playing in the snow. In addition, that cottage is truly serene being tucked away all by itself there. Beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing Duke :turkey:
