Just got back from Idaho with my Ranger. This thing did amazing in the snow! Was pushing through 1.5 to 2 feet of snow in some spots. I doubt the factory tires could have done as well. So glad I have the Falken Wildpeaks.

Would you give those tires a pretty favorable review? Eventually, I want to get rid of my 18inchers (I just don't like the look), get a lift going, yadayadayada-- but for now I just want to upgrade from these stock Hankooks. The traction on them is increasingly disappointing. Those are lookin really cool on your whip though

Been wondering how the factory running boards will deal with snow, and now I know. I may have to invest in mud flaps.
They do collect a fair amount of snow and ice; even more so on the road when the snow turns to slush.

The first thing I did was replace the factory tires. The Hankooks are terrible. The truck feels firmer and more controlled in all conditions with the Falkens. No complaints.

Last March in Colorado we had a 2' storm roll through, which was even higher in other spots - like my neighborhood. I was working swings, so I got off around midnight. The plows were waiting for it to pass some before they got out there except on the interstates and hospital routes, so I had a choice of spending the night at work, or under my goose-down comforter at home. Easy choice.

Once I got off the main, semi-plowed highway I got a little nervous. I felt snow scraping on my doors, and when looking in the rearview mirror I could see that my bash plate was fully engaged in smushing the snow down with a line in the middle from the diff. I kept it in 4X4 as I approached my neighborhood and noticed a lot of vehicles stuck on various streets. I'd already made it 25 miles and was 4 blocks from home so I kept going. I had a few 90-degree turns coming up that required me to slow down, so locker on, and TCS off with a long press. I finally made it to my street and everything was buried since they never plow my neighborhood. At all. I got up to about 15mph and the truck was slowing down a little so I just floored it. I made it to the front of my house - not about to park in the driveway knowing I had over 2 feet of snow to disperse in the morning - and let off the gas. No brakes at all, truck stopped on its own.

Yep, these trucks do just fine in the snow.

2: I *highly* recommend that you take your truck to a nice, big, open parking lot when it snows and HOON around. You will learn more about your truck playing around, drifting, testing traction control, etc. than any other driving condition. Be safe, of course, but it's fun and educational.
It's all fun and games until you hit the concrete thing while going sideways at high speed.

Drove in the first Ohio snow yesterday. Was not much but I was surprised how many times the traction control turned on and how LOUD it was. My Jeep JK and JL were silent and I could only feel the traction control working. The tremor sounded like someone threw batteries into the rear diff and they were being chewed up. It worked just fine, but was a shock.

I think this is the ABS controller modulating brake pressure to transfer power to the non-slipping wheel(s).
