Gonna be a snowy holiday up here in the mountains if this 10 day forecast holds up. I will be sure to post a pic of my ranger completely buried. In the meantime here is my old ford excursion on 33's buried after a 100" storm last February.

1: You should use 4wd on a limited basis. I've found that a drop in air pressure helps more than 4wd. I run 37-40 PSI normally, so I would drop to around 32-35 for snow driving. 4wd will put your front end components under stress, if you're turning and they aren't able to slip a little bit (like on wet or snow).

2: I *highly* recommend that you take your truck to a nice, big, open parking lot when it snows and HOON around. You will learn more about your truck playing around, drifting, testing traction control, etc. than any other driving condition. Be safe, of course, but it's fun and educational.

Agree. While there may be some unhappy parking lot owner involved. ;) In todays world liability and litigation has turned people into such snow flakes. (sorry , could not resist the pun)

When I was in High school I had a 57 chevy that I purchased and supported with a paper rout. My friends and I knew that a few inches of snow meant that there would be no penalty for being late for school. So a little detour for some parking lot drifting was a great way to learn car control and have some fun as well. :) We might not have known it at the time but those driving skills really were a valuable thing to have.

This afternoon we toured the Bow Valley Parkway - Banff Alberta. Lots of powdery soft snow. This pic was right at the end. Very little stuck to the truck, despite going down a road or two with snow up to the steps.

We've had lots of snow in Interior BC the past week and my Ranger has been enjoying it. Heres a photo I took on the way home from skiing the other day. What you dont see is the nearly 1M base under the soft top layer. 4wd with rear locked and it feels unstoppable.

We drove Ginger up to Mammoth yesterday for some last minute gifts. We had whiteout conditions at one point because of the wind, but Ginger kept us safe. We didn’t dare jump out to take pictures of her though. Merry Christmas!

Snowed pretty bad in WA yesterday, ended up having to drive a family member to and from work. I was going about 60 in 2wd and fish tailed on the freeway lol. Had to switch to 4hi and had no issues after.
