Rangers in SNOW

6-8" overnight here nothing too out of the ordinary.

Had to rescue the plow a couple times while pushing the banks back over the edge. Damn thing is only 3wd so the one front tire digs in and it spins itself around into the bank when you back it up.

I use my ATV for 95%+ of my snow removal. Once she bottoms out, you flounder. Fortunately or unfortunately I have not had to use the Ranger to pull me free.

I did get stuck twice for a short while plowing a road on the lake. I eventually was able to rock myself free.The winds had blown in our ice road and it had several feet deep of blown in snow. Eventually my buddy with his tractor and blower had to remove it.

Yesterday we attended a National Forest off-trail survival training seminar that included snowmobile operations. Ak, you got your machine stuck, how need to get it unstuck. Attending was NFS personal, MI department of natural resources, various law enforcement personal and since we don't own a snowmobile, were brought our 6x6 Boss and heard in advance, that we will all get stuck today. But our Boss with its pods, its PSI being so low, there was not enough depth for it to sink in and get stuck while all other participants did get there machines stuck. Getting your machine stuck, was the goal of the seminar. There was about 3ft of fresh snow here and some folks had Skandic SWT's which have the largest tracks on snowmobiles made. Here is a few snow photos taken there. I did not get any of our ranger, towing the boss there...... Hope you like the photos. Last photo is a emergency shelter our group built. Three where made there.

You folks need to move somewhere you don't need that BS. LOL.
I say that as a whole 3.5 days below freezing has the 4th largest city in the US crippled!!!

I just got power back after 48 hours without and still no water. But, I thought of it as glamping in our house. The wife was not impressed with my take on it.

As a Texan (grew up in the north) dealing with an extremely rare severe winter event - my ranger has been super clutch for my family. It has not struggled in the slightest with some really bad road conditions. Very very impressed.

I drive mine in the snow everyday for work. I had to get cooper st max 10 ply tires. That was all that was availble. I aired them down to 28 psi. They do pretty well at that inflation, but for the serious stuff I chain up. This little ford goes about anywhere.

We normally get into 4wd and leave it there for 4 months. Of course we receive snow, on average, 6 days out of the week.

More photos taken is am. 1st one is our yard and street. Then on the way to da store and in there parking lot. This is the sun we commonly see over the winter. The 2nd to the last photo is definitely a yooper car.. I'll post more later. I should add, out ranger was running when I was in the store.... and unlocked.

Must be nice to live in an area where you can leave your vehicle running and not have some knucklehead steal it.

One thing I’ve noticed and don’t like, it seems like there is a significant lag time from letting off the accelerator before rpm drops. I’ll call it accelerator lag and assume it is from the turbo? It is not a good snow driving trait.

Drive in trailer tow mode and you will have compression braking.
