told my dealer I had water on top of engine and truck had a missfire but code disappeard, got an engine cover under TSB
SSM 51239 2019-2022 Ranger - Illuminated MIL With Misfire DTCs/Water In Spark Plug Wells And/Or Corrosion On Ignition System Components Some 2019-2022 Ranger vehicles not equipped with an engine appearance cover may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304 and/or P0316 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to water build up in the spark plug well(s) which can lead to signs of corrosion on ignition system components. To prevent reoccurrence, an engine appearance cover must be installed on the vehicle. Currently, the engine cover (SPN: L1MZ-6A949-A) is not available to order and a new engine cover kit is being released. Repair the vehicle by replacing suspect ignition system components and schedule an appointment with the customer to have an engine cover installed when the engine cover kit becomes available in April 2023. Monitor OASIS for updates

Nothing but you need to find a dealer that knows what they're talking about. There's only one engine (2.3) so there's only one engine cover for all Ranger models and years for the 5G. I haven't looked in a long time but you can try doing a search online for one. Just make sure you add the studs and nuts for it, you'll need two of each.

I have tried from two sources to get a engine cover for My 2021 Ranger Super crew xlt and each time they have stated that they do not make one for this model. Both times I tried to buy one from a Ford Delership. The engines are the same regardless of trim level right ? They have the covers for the Lariat model only. What iam I missing ?

I’ve also considered adding an engine cover. The factory ones can get eaten and the aftermarket one is cool looking, but a little pricey. I was wandering around Tractor Supply yesterday and came up with an idea for a DIY engine cover. Rodents can’t eat it and water rolls off it.

The deep in a city in California, and they still were in my engine bay before I added the engine cover. I painted it to look cool. The rat still chew through it. The paint is not nearly as durable as a professional factory thing would be, but I still like it. The ultrasonic/light infrared flashers have kept them at bay.

Why would you want one / Just holds in heat

Why would you want one / Just holds in heat

1) It helps with the possible problem of water dripping in the spark plugs (helps but does not eliminate the risk)
2) It quiets the engine noise inside the cabin a small amount.
