What was the source?

Bluetooth audio from your phone? Perhaps it was paused or seeking service?
I have no idea what caused it, I have a call into the dealer and we'll see what they say.

I wouldn't waste my time. At best they'll take it from you for two weeks to tell you they can't recreate it and it's fine.

Not sure what source you were using, but some have reported an issue with Sirius/XM not coming back on after shutting the vehicle off and back on. It would be off five minutes or so and come back on. Make sure you have the latest sync version and/or perhaps do a system reboot.

Had my audio go out while on business travel in D.C. I generally use Android Auto with a usb cord. I've had my Ranger since 0 miles when I purchased it in March of 2019. Usually when there is a problem it's the cord. This was a strange one. Kept switching from preset radio station to audio off, starting android auto then reverting back to the display, sort of on a glitchy loop. No volume from any source, couldn't adjust any source. Occasionally the volume would show as 0.
Tried resetting the display from settings, restarting my phone, searching for updates for SYNC, deleting the current version of Android Auto and restarting my phone. Did all the standard troubleshooting. It sucked not having my display functioning in a place I am not familiar with, especially when I prefer the speed limit to be a touch higher than posted, and need to see my police alerts.
Anyhow, got home after driving 4 hours, got in the truck yesterday morning and I had "slow battery charging" alert on my display. I pulled the negative terminal and everything seemed to reset and is currently working. Super frustrating to troubleshoot and not determine the cause.

Sometime stuff happens. At least you had the presence of mind to perform the battery/main power reset and share you experience with the board.:like:

My radio did something odd today, the volume was fixed around level 6, would be my best guess. Volume would not adjust up or down and there was a little icon that said “prompt volume”. WTF that is I don’t know or could find anything in the settings, haven’t checked the manual yet.

I did the usual reset and it was back to normal.
I’m due for a sync update per an email from Ford but when activating the “scan for updates” I get nothing, never have after numerous times attempting.

Not OP, but I frequently have this type of issue with mine when it's on Bluetooth, or even Apple CarPlay. More often than not, it's pending some response from me via my iPhone.
