Allright, I have been following, and somewhat patiently waiting for my Ranger, but I thought "what do I wish I would have known about the ordering process PRIOR to ordering. I mean, some things are beyond our or any dealers control, but some things could have maybe prevented some pain and angst.

Here is my shortlist (so far)

1. Will you sell at MSRP, or will there be a markup (even if that includes dealer installed add-ons I may or may not want)?
2. How may Rangers do you currently have on order? How many of each model (SCab & Crew)
3. What is your allotment of each model each month?
4. Do you give any custom order discounts?
5. Do you honor current Ford incentives at time of order, or incentives available at time of delivery, or the better of the incentives?
6. How much deposit is required?
7. Is the deposit refundable if the vehicle is not scheduled/built/delivered within XX weeks/months?
8. If Ford deletes items that are now a standard part of the build due to product shortages (ACC, navigation, bed-liner, steering wheel, motor, transmission, etc.) can i cancel my order and recieve a refund?

Others? And if this is a duplicate thread, please feel free to combine...

Is deposit refundable if after waiting for months with no build date? Some people have had luck getting an order through quickly. People like me are sitting and waiting with nothing but a email saying thanks for your order. My advice is if you want a truck look at all brands and options. I've also put a deposit on a toyota waiting to see who can get there shit together first.

See I approach this differently. I walk into a dealer and tell them what I’m looking for. What’s the best price you can give me with incentives and what’s on order that isn’t sold already. If you push all the right buttons I’ll leave a deposit. Or if nothing is available and I custom order what do you currently see for delivery delays and what’s the best pricing you can do using that approach.

Going that way they will most likely give you an average deal to feel you out and if you bail then they try to sweeten the pot.

I would also look into getting onto one of the Ford plans. I think the X plan would be the easiest but others on here can tell you more about that. That gives you the best deal

See, I would be more interested to see if I could order the same truck through a higher colume dealer if it would get built sooner than the one I have on order (lower volume, but not adjusting for market value or adding mods I really don't want them to do - like 2 tinted windows for $600!)

The dealer I used is high volume. A lot of us have joked there's a shortage of crooked tremor stickers. My build is basic, tremor lariat 500 package. The fact that they may also deliver an incomplete truck has also worried me and most likely would then pass at delivery. I'm not looking to spend time driving back and forth to have them install things months later.
