Well mine went off for a 2nd time last weekend. After 1400 miles of babying it I decided to have some fun... apparently I overdid it a bit at one point. I was accelerating with a vehicle in front of me and closing in on them when it activated. I'll assume my system is operating correctly at this point.I don't have ac and it engaged on me. It was a little startling because I didn't think I had the pre-collision feature. Lol. It only engaged that one time. Since then there have been times I thought it should have engaged and didn't. And since finding this thread I did like others and set the sensitivity to high and tried (very safely ) to set it off with no luck.
...Though a Jersey Barrier would be more fun to watch though! [not in my truck]Subaru dealer by me uses an orange construction cone for demo. Find one and try it. Won’t hurt anything if it doesn’t work.
Here is a good example of the pre collision systems evidently being different. I have no light strip on the top of my dash as yours does. My Explorer has the light strip on the dash. I have a friend with a Ranger Lariat. He has adaptive cruise. His truck doesn't have the light strip on top his dash either.yes the Red LED's on top of the dash did light up.
Ok. So evidently some Rangers have the light strip on top the dash below the windshield and some, like mine does not. This is strange!I see the red lights on the dash near the windshield light up when starting the eng. I assume that that is a test to prove that the system works. This is the problem with first run vehicles. In my experience it takes a few years to get most of the bugs out. Being old school I dont count on the new stuff to save me.![]()
The Lariats have the display on the left screen and those w/o the Lariat cluster have the red lights on the dash like I had in my 2015 Explorer.Ok. So evidently some Rangers have the light strip on top the dash below the windshield and some, like mine does not. This is strange!
I have the XLT trim level. No lights on the dash. The Lariats have the display on the left screen and those w/o the Lariat cluster have the red lights on the dash like I had in my 2015 Explorer.

Ah, I never looked at XLT or XL trim levels prior to my build... Which instrument cluster do you have? If the two outside analog and the center display is there anything that comes up on the center display?I have the XLT trim level. No lights on the dash.
The XL series uses the light strip on the dash because the 2.3" productivity screen dash does not have that provision built in.Ok. So evidently some Rangers have the light strip on top the dash below the windshield and some, like mine does not. This is strange!

plorer has the adaptive cruise radar below the grill, and a front camera in the grill. My Ranger has no adaptive cruise in the front, and a camera on the windshield. I still thinking that adaptive radar makes the pre collision act differently. I could be wrong? Even if I am correct and indeed this is the case, then what. If those of us that do not have adaptive cruise then have a kinda modified version of pre collision that works entirely different? I keep saying to myself, no. But in the back of my mi
I also have an XL STX. I have no light strip. My warning flashes up on the screen between the tach & spedo with audio alert. The XL series uses the light strip on the dash because the 2.3" productivity screen dash does not have that provision built in.
If you buy the Co-Pilot 360 option the instrument panel is upgraded to the same as the XLT.
My STX has the on dash light strip for this reason.
My dealer did not know what it was until I did the research and told them.![]()

You must have the Co-Pilot 360. with the 4.2" productivity screen.I also have an XL STX. I have no light strip. My warning flashes up on the screen between the tach & spedo with audio alert.
Reason I keep hitting my head on the wall when I stop it hurts
