I wonder if just a piece of cardboard would work. Just a little prop on the back (windless day) and if the ranger does not stop, you just run over the cardboard. Maybe 3-foot square, like from a box.

Exactly what I was thinking. Any large object should do the trick.

Mine worked perfectly yesterday . Car if front of me decided to hit his brakes and make a right turn. It sounded off, dash lit up, but am not sure about the braking because I slammed them on quickly when I realized what was happening .

Sounds like a plan to me, I told Ford there was zero reaction from the Ranger. It was a near miss, but they tell me all is well. Need to figure out way to test the system or pray Ford knows what they are doing.

This. I am still trying to figure out where my warning will come from. I have everything turned on in the menu and the sensitivity set to highest and I've closed in on some cars hard on the brakes to a point that if I didn't hit my brakes, I feel it would have been too late to avoid a crash.

Lariat version: I hadn't noted anything until this thread. No activations, no alerts. So this morning I checked the settings and they were checked correctly but I went ahead and deselected AEB then reselected the option. I mile later going around a corner I got an orange alert so I paid attention to the display and noted the following. On the Lariat your vehicle will display with cone projecting forward when stopped or under 15 mph (AEB is not active). The cone is not filled in. Once you exceed 15mph the cone will have a pattern inside of it (AEB active). If you are exceeding 15 MPH and a vehicle is in front of you a new vehicle will appear ahead of the patterned cone and your vehicle symbol, in the display. If you start to close to the vehicle in front of you a yellow bar will appear between the end of the cone and the front vehicle. I think this will turn red if you get too close. When you drop below 15MPH the patterned cone returns to an un-patterned cone. I think the distance projecting forward is based on how you have adaptive cruise set, as to distance allowed.

So at least in the Lariat version it is pretty easy to tell if AEB is working, short of physically being in an incident or doing the cone test.

Mine works pretty nicely.

It doesn’t work if you are going below about 15MPH.
I can confirm it does work below 15 mph. Today, I approached a vehicle in the drive-thru quickly at maybe 5mph and Pre Collision Alert activated.

I would agree and it makes sense that it would work below 15MPH. I was commingling adaptive cruise and AEB with the observation being you can tell if the radar ( or lidar, not sure which they use) is working by looking at the display, if you have adaptive and a lariat. It must be adaptive that disengages at 15MPH but AEB remains active

Further observation: White bar when closing but still at distance, yellow bar when warning of getting too close and red if you are too close. The bar is small, inside the left display that shows your car, the radar cone and the vehicle in front.

The manual says the system is active above 3 mph and pedestrian detection is active up to 50 mph. I checked, unchecked and rechecked my settings. Max sensitivity, all options active. I placed 2 over sized 33 gallon trash bags filled with foam padding in my driveway and approached at 10 mph. I hit them without a sound. The parking aid sensor went straight to red after I made contact. The manual also shows a pic of where the camera is located ( windshield behind rear view mirror ) and a pic of the front license plate area but says the radar is located on the driver side lower fascia. Looking at various pics and reviews, it appears trucks with the adaptive cruise have a sensor of sorts mounted in the middle of the lower bumper opening, right below where the licese plate would be.I see nothing, no wires etc except for the front parking aid sensors. I thought maybe the truck just used the parking sensors, but the XL trucks without co-pilot 360 don't have the parking aid sensors. The manual is clear as mud. It says if the camera or radar are blocked/dirty it could affect the detection capability and to clean them. Hard to do when I can't find the radar :headbang:. I don't have a front license plate so that's not my issue. Can someone check and see if/where the radar is and post a pic?

Here is the adaptive cruise radar block and I assume AEB uses the same. I doubt the parking sensors are used for anything other than parking.

AEB uses the front mounted camera, that sensor is only for adaptive cruise.
