PRE COLLISION ASSIST

To the best of my knowledge it does not have a Technology Package - at least not beyond what I think is standard on the XLT. In addition to the collision assist I have the tail light blind spot sensors and various front and rear proximity sensors. I do not have adaptive cruise control - only standard cruise. No lane departure either.

Look at your monroney. Or look up your vin on the ford website for us owners.

Bliss uses sonar,and when it activates,you'll see on the screen which sensors are going off,and on what side. pretty trick stuff for this old geezer.Lane departure is a pain in the ass,no matter of age

I like all these sensors and tech stuff,I've never had most of these before. I even like the lane assist but only when on the highway. I hate it around town as sometimes it doesn't pick up corners or when a lane is fading from 2 -3 lanes. It does help on longer highway drives if you get distracted it will pull you back over and it really helps at night especially if you get blinded by incoming traffic you can keep inside your own lane.

This feature saved my ass from hitting someone on an on ramp. The on ramp has a green/red light set up and I saw green light and figured dude went. I looked down, hit the gas and the truck full on alerted me to stop...luckily i mashed break..dude missed his light and i got within feet of smashing him. Would def had been my fault. However i blame him for not following the traffic signs lol. Thank you ford Pre collision system

A few corrections:
The precollision primarily uses the camera behind the rearview mirror. It will use the lower grille radar to help if you have it. Not all of us have that though since it's primarily used for adaptive cruise control.
The BLIS uses the radar system in the tail lights and will activate the light in the side mirrors. Might be different for Lariats though I guess.

Also, you can turn off the lane assist if it's annoying you. Like @AzScorpion said, it's handy on long highway trips when things can get monotonous. But isn't quite sophisticated enough to handle the type of multiple lines that often happen in city areas.

Apologies if this has already been covered, but my collision control/adaptive cruise likes to turn off randomly on the highway. I will get a message saying the features are unavailable, and then I can't use them again until the car has been turned off and on again. Has anyone else dealt with this issue? Do I need to go to a dealer or is it simply a matter of clearing the grill/radar box? As far as I can tell it's pretty buttoned up.

you can look and see if there's stuff stuck to the front (like leaves) but otherwise take it to the dealer. could be a loose connection or the hardware could be flaking out.

I've got 0 issues with pre-collision assist. It's turned off! No adaptive cruise control, lane assist, or anything else to take my attention away from my job at the time....to focus and drive safely.

Remember when we used paper maps? Your driving world was extended miles and miles. GPS Navigation turns your world to inches...i.e. the screen telling you where to turn and maybe that quickly upcoming sign or road (that maybe you just passed). As it is, you better have an idea on where you are going anyway and just Navigation as an aid.

Same with these sensors. You relax. Argue all you want, but you relax. You have to if you are going to trust the technology. Your driving world then shrinks significantly. I get it though. I've been behind so many people that are blatantly driving and looking down at their phones. I want to get out of the vehicle and slap these people. So in some respects, I'm happy for the technology to save me from being rear-ended...problem is, technology fails and when it does, possibly the accident will be much worse. We should just hold people to a standard instead of catering to the lowest common denominator.

Take that example above with the 2 trash cans. Say it's your young daughter driving your vehicle and she's been brought up around technology and for her, she totally trusts the collision assist, because, actually learning to drive is such a drag. So she's driving down the road joking with her friends, confident the technology will save her (you know, just like those sappy commercials), when a 3 year runs out into the street. squish and a little kids head is cracked open like a melon. Had she been focusing and looking around, she would have seen the two kids kicking the ball and anticipated that she needed to be careful.

I'm teaching my wife to drive and ya, I could get her a super sensorised (refuse to use the word "safe") vehicle, but instead I'm teaching her to DRIVE which requires focus, anticipation, critical thinking. We are not handing that over to computers and sensors.

So I have to say this my truck my Ranger lariat stoped 3 ft from 3 cars parked trying to turn right at 60 mph I was distracted the truck stopped.
