friends i got home from work tonight only to find out that my dad thought my mom may have had a stroke. i rushed on. she did. been at the er all night so far with them. im not ready to let a parent go yet, shes in general healthy and even still works at her bizz a few days a week. i was just telling someone here how tough she is recently and how she beat cancer. im requesting prayers and positive thoughts for my mother to be well and restored to health / ability.

Hi David,

I sincerely hope Kate stays in remission and never has to face cancer recurring. Glad you now have your affairs in good order. We have quite a large trust document which includes Living Wills, Powers of Attorney etc as well as all the complicated financial arrangements necessary for our handicapped daughter to receive the support she will need for her entire life...

Head ache to do...glad it is over and done with but we now have peace of mind in place...

I read your message about Tito to Kate and that's incredibly thoughtful. But you're a pretty thoughtful person (there are so many things I've learned from you here—thank you).

And thanks for your thoughts on Kate, she has had an incredible journey from massive doses of Fentanyl, Dilaudid, Gabapentyn, two chemos, surgery, radiation, and finally being told she only had three years to live. But in the eleventh hour, an immunotherapy drug was approved for her type of cancer and she was the first to get that treatment and it worked. She's now doing great, but has a bum leg, and needs no pain meds at all. And loves to kayak with our little dog (thus the desire for a Ranger, to make it easy for us old farts to get out there).

Keep being you Phil, I enjoy your words of wisdom tremendously. You're part of our online family as is your daughter and now Tito!

Besides ... how can you not love a guy with a tortoise! =)

finally got a little bit of good news, got mom into inpatient rehab today! she said a few words and ate a little bit. Ill take it as movement in the correct direction. Thank you everyone for all prayers and thoughts for us, it means a lot to me please keep it up.

That's a positive and huge step forward. Take heart in it and know that all of us here want the best for her and your family. We may be strangers but we're a community that actually does care about each other and we sincerely want her to make a full recovery.

After all, someone has to keep you in line and there's nobody that can do that quite as well as mom! =)

mom started the first part of rehab today of stepping up a step. she spoke a few more words but not many. i can see her trying but the words just dont come. she started a sentence and then it abruptly stopped like the thoughts left. it hurts to watch her struggle. the hardest part is not being able to "fix it", or "fight it". im sure yall know that feeling. but if anyone can beat this she is the one of my family. her blood sugar was high today so im concerned with that too. thank you all for support and prayers i can honestly see them helping me. things seemed impossible a week ago and today even though im upset and worried things do not seem impossible just real damn difficult.
