I think nearly everyone who buys one of these has a positive response to it. I generally don't have a problem with them. If it increases your driving enjoyment, then it's worth the money.

For me it's the blatant dishonesty and misinformation that they use to market them. Don't lie to people spending their hard earned money to buy your product. People already love the product, just tell the truth. That sprint booster demo unit they send to vendors is so asinine it should be bordering criminal false advertisement.
That and Pedal Commander (much like every other big name auto-part vendor) is now just commanding a price because of that label on the box. Why someone would buy a Pedal Commander over iDrive is beyond me. They do the same exact thing and one cost half as much.

Want more response off the line? Just torque up the converter to about 1,300 RPM, release the brake, stab the go pedal, and hold tight! No cost at all, save some fuel, tire rubber, and a bit of wear and tear on the drive train.

I installed one on my Ranger. Had one on my 2019 F150 and 2006 Magnum RT. Really wakes the truck up as it did on the other vehicles. Throttle repsonse is bang on with minimal input. Just like the good ol' days when throttle cables were the norm and torque management was non exsistant.

I find it funny that no matter how many people with a throttle controller comment on how great it is, you get people, who don't even own one, who insist they don't work, that you can tune the lag out, that you should just stomp on the gas harder, etc.

I am telling you right now, they work, even with a tune. I have 3 cars that are tuned and all 3 have a throttle controller ALONG WITH A TUNE.
1. 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio: MaxPower Pro ECM tune with Madness GoPro throttle controller
2. 2016 Mustang GT: Livernois Engineering e85 tune with iDrive throttle controller
3. 2019 Ford Ranger: Livernois Engineering 93 tune with Pedal Commander throttle controller

There is a noticeable difference in pedal response in all of them with the throttle controllers. The most noticeable of all is on the mustang as the power is immediate. the other two are both turbo and you cant get rid of that turbo lag from a stand still. the Mustang is almost undriveable from a stop in the top settings due to the power coming on too quickly.

Here is an analogy I came up with. You have a train engine pulling a train car behind it. The cars are held together by a Railroad coupling. there is some play in that Railroad coupling where, when the engine starts moving but the car behind it doesn't move right away because of the play in the coupling. If you tune your engine it will not take the play away. The train with more power may move faster but there is still play in the coupling. A throttle controller removes that lag and. at the same time, also lets you push only part way to get as much power as pushing you foot to the floor, depending on the setting you have it at (as many of you have already commented). Not perfect analogy but you get the idea.

The other thing these devices also do is have decreased throttle response for a better economy mode or for doing things like backing up trailers or going up/down off-road inclines where you need to control your speed better.
I've had the Livernois 93 tune in my 19' Ranger for over 40K miles. I definitely want a pedal commander after reading all of this due to the very annoying pedal response lag.....even with the tune....;)
Power braking gets old......

I did not read through the replies but all this does is remap how far open the throttle body opens vs pedal position. It does nothing more than you can do by pushing your foot down farther. I don’t understand how this thing sells? Oh the good old day with cables when 1/2 throttle was 1/2 throttle not 3/4.

This has been standard on the Toyota Prius since 2010. ECO, Standard, and Power settings. All are the same at WOT, but the mapping is different at lower speeds.

Update...
Instead of the pedal commander I've decided to FINALLY put some nice wheels on my Ranger. I've got her looking pretty good but those stock wheels have always bugged the heck out of me. I'm going with the XD 811 Rockstar II's....

That's going to set me back a few bucks so the PC will have to wait for now. ;)

Nice looking new wheels Mark and a better choice to get these before the PC. :like: Post some pictures once they're installed.

Thanks Dave! I ordered them last night through Discount Tire....they go on Monday afternoon. Pictures to come. I'm still not convinced on the pedal commander. I think I'll give Anthony at Livernois a call and get his take. I know they sell a Ford/Mercury "throttle enhancer" for $300. I'm thinking that would be the equivalent of the pedal commander.

Incorrect. Obviously you do not own one. Those of us that do know what it does. If pushing my foot down to the floor returned the same results then don't you think those that actually purchased and used them would post things like "I just bought this pedal commander. Recommend not to buy as I get the same thing if I just punch the gas"?

But, that is exactly what it does according to their own literature. Don't need to own one to understand how the pedal position circuit works on a torque based driver demand ECU. The only thing your ECU is looking for from your pedal is position, therefore the only possible thing these devices can do is manipulate the position data. This is what they do, feed your ECU an exaggerated(or low in eco modes) pedal position voltage which makes your ECU perceive your pedal is pressed down further than it actually is. As was stated, the exact same thing can be accomplished by pushing your pedal down further.

How Does Pedal Commander Work and Why Do You Need One?

You must have noticed that when you step on the gas pedal with the intention to overtake a slow-moving car or just beat the guy next you, there is some lag between your foot mashing the skinny pedal and your engine reacting. This is because the digital signal from the pedal first goes to the engine control unit, which eventually transmits it to the motor for action.

The Pedal Commander is designed to reduce the delay in the signal between throttle and engine. It basically speeds up the signal thus eliminating the delay. Not only that, but the Pedal Commander offers 30+ individual settings allowing you to fine tune the the sensitivity of your gas pedal to your exact desire. There's even an Eco mode designed to help slow the pedal to save increase fuel economy. Or turn it up to the Sport or Sport+ modes and get near instant response!

Install takes minutes and can easily be removed. It does not reprogram the vehicles ECU so there aren’t any footprints for the dealer to see. It does not add any horsepower or torque. While it feels like you’re gaining power, it’s actually just removing the throttle delay and causing the vehicle to react faster. These are now Bluetooth enabled allowing you to adjust settings on your phone in addition to the unit itself.

As always, use discount code PC5 for 5% and free shipping. These are in stock and ship out right away.

Hey Chris, just to let you know that the link to the Pedal Commander didn't go to the PC listings on your site. Did a search and the PC descriptions only list 2019 and 2020 models. Which PC model fits a 2021?
