Hello all,
I have searched in previous threads but cannot find anyone who has installed a passanger side grab handle up high by your head. I was considering adding a slightly barbaric solution to this, by using self tapping screws and a simple leather (like) pull. I also know there is many wires located in the top roof rail. Has anyone out there done this? And YES my XLT already has a plastic formed grab handle but it is too far forward for comfortable riding use, perhaps it is done this way to aleviate any head room concern, this is why I was thinking of a soft leather flat pull. any ideas?

Yes there is air bag equipment there that may be damaged by screws and would be blocked from properly deploying.

Worst case you blow an airbag. Best case, you added a projectile to your airbag? There's probably a middle ground. Perhaps you could look at a RHD country (I assume they have the handle on that side).

Unfortunately, you're not the first to look into this. I believe someone on this forum got the Australian parts to try to retrofit theirs. It was close but the trim prices weren't the same and I don't think the plate to screw the handle into was there either (guess, that's not close at all!). =p

If I find the post, I'll add the link here.

There's nothing to screw into. There's an air bag there, plastic is an obvious no go. and the sheet metal is paper thin.
