I'm curious as to how often/what events I can expect hearing something about my order status. I've seen a few people on here talk about receiving some communication from Ford within days of their order and it has me wondering: when placing an order is it normal to hear an initial confirmation or is silence the usual thing?

First week of January I went in to my local dealer and put in an order for a Super Cab XLT FX4 and was told that I could expect to have it around May, but I haven't heard anything else since, not even a "thank you for lining up to give us money in a few months" email.

I called the sales rep I worked with a few days ago and he said that it wasn't unreasonable for me to expect some initial email.... But he didn't say if I should have gotten one or not. (I was on hold for so long I had to cut the call short for another call so I couldn't press)

I'm not worried about the truck being delayed, it will come when it comes, but I'd like to know roughly what is going on. Should I pester my sales rep more or let things be?

You 'might' get a order confirmation email in my case i didn't when i ordered a '21 back in August. That then got cancelled by Ford in late Nov and they moved me into a '22 which i did get a order conf a couple days later, i then chose to cancel that order in late Dec because there was going to be a long delay for various reasons on the SCab ( and those issues were explained to me by the Sales Manager) i ordered and i needed a vehicle.
I did find a incredibly perfect '19 SCab that the previous owner hardly used for whatever reason and I'm thrilled with.
There are plenty of threads on the production delays and especially on the Sc's and the rear headrest recall that caused a lot of them to be sitting on lots around the factory, although that should be clearing up by now, also you need to contact your dealer for a order# and vin# until then it's just sitting in the computer waiting to be assigned the vin and picked up for a production date. Don't expect much correspondence from Ford.
Good Luck,
Rob.

I've seen those threads on the delays for Super Cabs. I'm not terribly worried since short of that Duratec 30 or CD4E blowing itself to bits, my Escape should hold out. I have enough faith in my backyard mechanics skill to keep her running for a while longer :)

Good to hear that FoMoCo is quiet, that's what I was figuring but having some third party confirmation makes me feel a little better.

I'll follow up with my sales rep for the order number, my sales rep is basically a kid and seems to stumble a lot. Wouldn't surprise me if he missed something when submitting the order. Nice guy though.

In these times, with Ford slowing or stopping production for a week (or 2, or 3, or ???) in 4 plants, it may be a while. Can't build without microchips. At least they'll have time to enter your order into the system.... ?‍♂ ?

When the dealer places the order with Ford, you will get a "Confirmation Email" from Ford immediately/same day. But the dealer needs to use your email in order for the Ford emails to come to you. Do you know if the dealer used your email or theirs?

My salesperson used his email so updates are sent, but I have to ask him for information. If you are not getting any updates might want to check with the dealer.

Ordered mine on a Saturday mid January 2022, was told once the person who places the orders in following Monday, I would receive an email from FORD. Monday night I received that email from FORD stating my order was confirmed.

Dealer told me all correspondents regarding production/delays/etc would be through FORD and that email progress bar/page. Once the vehicle is actually built and slated to ship, the dealer would take over in corresponding details about the vehicle. Dealership told me they have no control of what FORD does and only are given information on cars they themselves are receiving. Everything else is a wait and see. Sounded like the dealership was kinda sick of the lack of communication as well and I truly believe their hands are tied.

Status event notification was not frequent in my 2021 experience. Nobody gets paid til you get your truck - so they're motivated. Trust the system and be patient.. You beauty should be here in plenty of time for summer fun.

Ordered end Jan2021 delivered to CA mid May 2021.. Checking status did not add value until I saw it shipped in early May.

Enjoy!!
