Hey gents 20 Xlt 4x4 here....do we all use full synthetic? What do u use?

I have been using Amsoil Signature oil and they guarantee you can go 25,000 or 1 year. You don't have to go that long, but you can. They are the first one to make synthetic oil for cars back in 75 when everyone else was saying synthetic was crap! So they know what they are doing.
Also, of course the dealer is still going to recommend 5K changes! They know what the service manual and even the writing on the bottle says, but how do you think they make their money?

In the waiting room now, getting my 2nd oil change at about 18,500. Mobil 1 synthetic, 1st change was also M1S

I did some research and went with AMSOIL full synthetic on my first oil change recently. I used Mobil 1 full synthetic in my F150, but all of the info on Amsoil was fantastic. I paid $125 for 6 quarts and I think it's more some places. I'm not sure I will continue with it. The most expensive isn't always the best, but I read so many positive things I had to try it.

After taking my fluid mechanics class last year I learned that it doesn't matter what brand I put as long as they are using the same standards. I'll use the recommended viscosity even though you can fluctuate a bit if you want because our engines work in a certain bandwidth that is covered by a certain number of viscosities. Full synthetic only gives more insurance for extreme temps so I use full synthetic, you don't have to. I drive my Ranger hard. Have fun!

Used oil analysis. Blackstone Labs, costs about $27. I'd be willing to bet that Amsoil isn't any better than any other full synthetic. I've had a number of different oils tested in assorted family members' cars and two things I know for sure are that 1) Motorcraft Blend is a very good oil for the price and 2) I consistently got the best results with Pennzoil Platinum. Just my $0.02.

It also has the lowest NOACK number i believe 7.5 which is great for DI engines.

I may not gain any benefits, not sure. I do know I saw many lab results online that states Amsoil is the best. Not just one source, but several. Even with that said, in the end, it's probably no better than Mobil 1 and many others. This is just one of the articles that persuaded me to try it:

Have you thought about using 3-In One...you could use any excess to lube the damper....

So what are you guys using for oil in your ranger?

I have been running the Kirkland (Costco) Full synthetic 5w-30. It is a lot cheaper than other full synthetics, but still has all the same ratings and has been reviewed well. It is made by Warren Distribution which makes all sorts of private label oil.

Most important thing is following the maintenance schedule.
As long as the oil is rated properly API/SAE or whatever, too lazy to check, your good. 5/30, 10/30 or 5/40, your probably good.
