If you’re doing it for looks then I guess you’re okay with slightly more road noise and a little less mpg. That will happen but not to a huge degree.

You are right about the 265/70R17 being a good size that avoids issues. Your speedo will be out by maybe 2-3%, if that.

You really don’t get any real lift or added ground clearance because we’re talking fractions of an inch.

Looks are your motivator, so I suggest an A/T with a pronounced side treat pattern, such as Falken Wildpeaks, Nitto Ridge Grappkers, Bridgestone KO2s, or General Grabbers. They have aggressive tread patterns but aren’t as loud as you would think.

265 70 17 is great upgrade when stock. not issues with rubbing or too much noise etc. but a warning, once you put on a set of bigger tires you will soon want bigger and bigger.
Ha! I bet. I’ve been wanting to do mods to my truck slowly, without doing anything too drastic that I might regret. Tires seem like the next good step. I hope I don’t get tempted to go bigger, but my parking garage’s ceiling height should be a good deterrent.

Looks sweet!! Can you give me some more details about road noise/fuel efficiency?
They are Light Truck tires, but still the same size as O.E.M. - LT 265/65R17. I purchased them at Discount Tire because they have always taken care of me. Discount Tire recommended 40 psi due to the 10-ply sidewalls. I contacted BF Goodrich and they recommended 38 psi., so that is what I run. Chalk test verified 38 psi. Added road noise is negligible and does not bother me at all. My guess is fuel mileage went down slightly, but it's hard to tell because it's winter in Minnesota and sometimes I warm my vehicle up for three or four minutes just before I leave work. My garage is heated. I'm not worried about fuel mileage because it's a truck so it's not going to get the same fuel mileage as a Toyota Corolla or something like that. At the end of the day, it's not a "Make or Break" deal. I wanted a tire that looks nice and performs well too. I don't off-road so I didn't "Need" the BF Goodrich tires, but I "Wanted" them. Would an all-season tire been better in our Minnesota winters, maybe, but in a foot of snow, I did not get stuck and my Ranger did just fine. The speedometer is still spot on and I have enjoyed the tires and love my Ranger!

Correct, 265/70-17 will fit with no modifications as long as it is on the factory wheels.

First post here. Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer. As a non-savvy car guy, I use this community a lot for tips, advice, etc. So thank you all!

Looking to upgrade the tires on my 2019 XLT Ranger. It currently has some stock size tires that they put on when I bought the truck used from AutoNation. They still have a lot of tread left, I’m just itching to keep improving my truck.

After some research on here, it seems like the ideal size without a lift is 265/70/17, where it won’t rub or need any alterations. But correct me if I’m wrong.

This is what I’m looking for in a tire:

Purely aesthetics.
I just want some beefier looking tires that maybe give my truck like an inch lift or so. I don’t off road. I never drive in snow, although it has been raining a ton more than usual in Los Angeles.
I mainly use my truck to commute and maybe a short road trip occasionally. I live a mile away from work so I don’t put a lot of mileage on my truck (~42k miles on a 2019) and now that the weather is getting warmer, I may be biking to work a lot more.
I don’t want tires that are going to be super loud on the road or affect my MPGs drastically. I also don’t tow or have heavy loads in the bed. Looking for maybe an all terrain that is road friendly, but has some grip in case I ever need it—it is hilly in SoCal—and won’t affect the ride. Heck, maybe even make it better.
I’ve seen a lot of people mention BFG KO2s, which look cool, and some other brands. My local Costco has a promo on Bridgestone and Michelin right now.
Also, are there any pros and cons to going bigger? I’ve read it throws off the speedometer.

I know this is a lot, I just want to make sure I make the right choice. I really appreciate if you’ve read this far.

Michelin LTX Defender tires are EXCELLENT! Put them on my 2019 Ranger Lariat and love them

I have worked in a tire shop for the last 16 years and have had a lot of success and good feedback selling the Continental Terrain Contact A/T. It's a good looking tire with minimal road noise and low rolling resistance. I ran the A/T's on my Bronco and the H/T's on my F-150, they also ride great. My Ranger came with Michelin LTX MS and I really liked them,but Michelin is pricey, but they are top of the line.

Highly suggest doing your research on getting new tires. A lot of places have bad prices. Maybe even consider opening yourself a TireRack Wholesale account; that's what I did. You save a good bit. I looked them up and I see $210 a tire on that site.

Those look great! I think I’m leaning Michelin LTX, those seem to fit my needs. They’re not “beefy” looking off-road tires, but they definitely look nice and better than what I’ve got.

I do have some Continentals on my bicycle that I love haha. I don’t mind paying a little more for something of high quality. The older you get the more you realize: you get what you pay for.
Plus, I don’t put a ton of miles on my truck so they’re gonna last me for a few years.

Don't forget about the Firestone Destination LE3. When compared to a non LT Michelin(Firestone is not LT) it is 3 LBS Lighter and that will also help with MOG a little bit. It is also rated for 70,000 miles as well

Not that I have to buy them at Costco, but I love me some Costco. Plus I think they have warranty and maintenance and other stuff if you purchase there.
Negative, the LE3 is a street tire, not an All-Terrain or Mud-Terrain. Check with your local Firestone Auto Care. They do well when it comes to tires and alignment and are open 7 days a week.

Negative, the LE3 is a street tire, not an All-Terrain or Mud-Terrain. Check with your local Firestone Auto Care. They do well when it comes to tires and alignment and are open 7 days a week.

Ride like a Dream! 60K mile warranty, quiet, 5 Star Rain Handling rating which important here in Florida! And these are the smaller Stock tires for the Ranger Lariat in 17inch. A larger size if available for your needs may look even better for what you want!

Sweet! I’m originally from South Florida, but live in Los Angeles now. Not nearly as much rain, but this winter has been nuts! Making me feel like I’m back in my home state.
I have an XLT with 17” stock rims so 265/70 is he biggest I can go without rubbing.
