NO SHUT OFF

Just thought of it but my Ranger has not shut off at a stop light for over one year now . Not complaining just do not get it . Maybe because 90 percent of my driving is short trips . Believe me I am happy ! Any ideas ? Also no device is charging in ac plug .

nothing on dash maybe battery is down because of the short trips I take . They say heat is worse than cold on batteries

I think thats even truer on these new batteries , a few here have added trickle chargers to help ,...

Tow-haul mode will disable ASS

Tow mode and sport mode both disable the auto start stop system.

Usually if the battery is getting weak then you will see a crossed out A on the dash. And when you scroll through the menu you will get a message stating the A.S.S. is not available due to battery charging.

I get that in my 2020 Ranger if I haven't taken any longer drives in it. Short in town trips aren't good since it doesn't allow the battery to fully charge like a longer drive will.

Mine stopped working because of a bad BMS sensor/battery. Both replaced under warranty.

Other symptoms. Getting the "deep sleep" message on Ford Pass every time I trim off truck. Radio/power points would turn off 30 seconds after turning off truck

If I don't have my foot too far on the brake pedal then ASS doesn't kick in. The same goes for my VW Tiguan.

Mine was disabled from factory. I have a '23. Seemed like all the '23s on the lot had A.S.S. removed. I feel 14 snickering every time auto start stop is abbreviated.

Things that disable the auto stop/start:

• Manually disabling it
• Engine not up to operating temp yet (lots of short trips, some people never experience it working)
• Battery below the threshold
• Tow mode
• Sport mode

Yeah, you can look in the instrument panel, I think under fuel economy (but not 100%) and it will show why ASS may be off. Probably says off due to charging, which points to the short trips or bad battery.

If I recall, some of the new trucks had it deleted because of the chip shortage?
