Just noticed tonight that I have no floor heat blowing on driver’s side. Passenger footwell is working fine.

I noticed that it seems like the heat is only coming into the foot well from the left side and it's barely getting to the accelerator. I haven't really paid a ton of attention to it yet because usually I'm not actually cold but it was brisk this morning!

I don’t know about the Ranger specifically, but usually those air ducts snap together. Maybe yours got knocked loose and is laying on the floor close by.

Same thing on mine....very little air movement on the drivers side floor vent. I haven't checked the passenger side yet.

Same here. It's ESPECIALLY bad when I try sending the air out through the middle (hands) zone and the lower (feet) zone. It seems like neither get much air. It makes all sorts of wind noise in the dash but I have no idea where the air actually exits.

So I looked at it yesterday and I’m on the same page with you guys. I actually do have air blowing out but compared to the passenger side it is very weak. I guess that is why I didn’t realize it at first.

The driver's side duct is directly over the brake pedal, a sort of unusual location but mine does blow out a ton of heat. Other vehicles I have owned the duct was more on the accelerator side. I suspect your is not connected or blocked.

I only use lower ducts for heat though.

Well great, I’m joining the club too.
Floor heat is all I ever used in my 97 Ranger.
I’ll be investigating and I might just block the passenger side to get the heat I want.

Not sure if it's just me but first cold mornings, I let the climate controls do its thing. After the engine warming up, it just didn't seem to blow warm from different areas like you folk mentioned. I started messing with different settings. Seems the only way to get some good hot air is ignore the auto climate, crank the temps up and set the fan the way you want. I checked all vents and they all seemed to evenly blow. It just doesn't seem to cut it in auto climate mode. Anyone else try this?
I have auto-start, etc. but never think about starting the truck a bit before I get in. Usually, not thinking of it and usually just get in. Maybe force of habit. Most of my past vehicles never had the option. Mostly early in the a.m. when my brain isn't all awake and lacking coffee... ;)

Hi Folks,

I have been following this thread and thought I would chime in. I do not know if this applies to the Ranger, but one of the goals of HVAC engineers is to quiet down the blower fan noise. On Luxury cars the ducts are quite large and the air flow is lower to make the blower noise inaudible as much as they can. The key here is air volume, not air speed, so what you might be noticing the lack of air speed but good volume of air. I back this up with Steve's comment. I have yet to use heat on my Ranger as we are still on Air Conditioning here in Southern Arizona...

Just food for thought

Phil, I call BS. This "heat" discussion is the same as the "A/C" discussion we've had this past summer. Bottom line, Ranger did a poor job at providing suitable air flow at the feet of the driver. We don't care about blower noise. We just want to send hot or cold air to the feet, when nessassary.

With my heart condition (Thoracic aortic aneurysm, specifically, a dilated aortic root), I have poor circulation in my hands and feet. Keeping my feet warm is higher on my list of priorities than a little blower noise. I have also considered just blocking the passenger side since I rarely have a passenger. I can feel warm air coming out near my feet, but very little volume.....a slight breeze vs a column of air like the other vents.

As mentioned elsewhere, a comprehensive test drive might have curbed some of the criticisms.
The last thing on my mind, in the middle of summer was checking the heater controls but it is what it is. I’ll live with it.

We just got back from running some errands today and we noticed the same issue... not much heat coming from the floor vents?

What we did was change the HVAC control to feet only. We then got decent heat at our feet, and still got heat flow through the upper vents too?

We have an XL.. so there in no "Auto Mode"

Weird... but it works. Give it a try.
