Meh, the only time I turned it by mistake was when I was cleaning it.

Clever idea. Maybe you could adapt it to also protect the light switch. I don't have a problem bumping them but some do.

I had this issue, but running boards changed how I was getting in as well as scooting the seat back some seems to have solved that as I was hitting the lights every single time I was getting in.

I have to have my seat closer to the steering wheel a lot as I have kids who ride behind me. I did look down one time and saw that I was in 4-HI because my knee bumped the selector. This is a good idea and I may be interested. Is it just stuck down with something like double-sided tape or hot glue?

I have turned mine on by mistake once, and I don't drive much so seems like something of use. I was in a parking lot and heard the dragging and thought WTF. 4x4 was enabled. No idea how I did it.
