Instead of waiting 5 minutes, I shut off the truck, key out, and open the driver door as if I'm getting out. That seems to shut it down completely, at least for me. I then close the door and start the FFR as normal, then the screen comes back as if it didn't just screw me over on the 401.
Although looks similar to a wiring loom, it's actually just tubes that allow for water drainage from you tonneau cover's rails.

Sorry, was going to comment that using a hard cover is best when the snow piles up. It'll hold more without too much strain, and you can shovel it off without tearing the vinyl. Then I saw that you are in Texas. Greetings from Ottawa!
