Well after a lotta Heeming and Hawing...I went with the Firestone Destination AT/2 in the stock 265/65-17 size. Couldn't pass up that deal going on and I had the local Firestone store price match TireRack, albeit only like about a $20 difference. I do like them a lot so far, look fantastic, pretty smooth and handle well in dry but I think they aired them up too much, was reading 37lbs cold and 39 when I drove them for awhile so you can definitely feel the road more than the Hankooks. Gonna try them tomorrow at 33-34 cold and see if that makes any difference.
The Hankooks are very soft and squishy. That does make for a comfy ride. I think any other (better) tire will have you feeling the road more. The Hankooks were like jello, IMHO :p

I agree, aired down a bit the Firestone lets you feel the road more, not in a bad way though.

265/70 is a more common size used on half ton trucks. They fit on the ranger stock and look better than the stock 265/65. I have had the Cooper AT3 4S on mine for the past few years and about 55000 mi. To my knowledge the road and trail is the successor and roughly equivalent tire. I would say that the Coopers have been a good tire, quiet, light (only 45 lbs for my p285/70/17), and have worn pretty well. Only real complaint I have is the siping wore away so they ended up kind of sucking this past winter. The first 2 winters I had them they were just o.k. in the snow. Though my frame of reference may be skewed as I am comparing them to the old 05' explorer I had on duratracs that I swear was unstoppable in the snow.

I am currently shopping for tires and will end up going with something different this time.
I have the same tire with about 35,000 on them and they’ve become quite noisy at highway speeds, especially on the mostly concrete highways around me. They are wearing great though and I can likely get 50,000 out of them, but I’m thinking of swapping them out due to the noise since I’m on the road a lot. I probably need something more highway biased, but I’m also on gravel and forest service roads quite a bit, so it’s hard picking the best option. Kind of leaning toward the Destination AT2’s.

I have Michelin Cross Climate 2 as I live in wet summer Florida. I wouldn't hydroplane if I crossed a river lol. These tires rock it in the rain.

I had two sets of Destinations on a Tacoma. Good all around tire, but for weak sidewalls. They did not hold up to rocky trails. Loved them in every other way cept that

My pick is Toyo MT. They're smooth, quiet, and everything that a mud tire should be. This might not be your choice since it is an MT, but its the only thing that I would EVER run on a truck for mud tires.

First off - WOW!!!

59K on your original tires must be a record! Well done and you must be a smooth driver! =)

Second, there are so many tire threads here - all with great advice and experience. I'd say to search and you'll eventually find someone that has similar expectations for what tire is best for you.

I personally like Firestones and had a set on my old FJ40 for many, many years. Tires have certainly improved from that time (the 1980s).

Cooper's are great tires too.

That perfect all-terrain tire is an elusive beast but most are very, very good.

For me, I would like an AT tire but, in reality, an all-season would fit my actual needs. I never go off-road (the closest is the gravel road at the dump where you go dump dirt and rocks).

I personally dream of a Nokian Outpost nAT - I like the rating and liked Nokian's winter performance on my wife's car.

It supposedly is pretty quiet. Although, I rarely do any long road trips.

My Ranger came with the Bridgestones and have been fine for me (I toss on chains if it's really snowy out). But that's for short runs to the post office (or dump, as that's always my dream destination).

So search this forum for the two tires you mentioned and see how people have liked them and also how they look. Looks are important to many and there's nothing wrong with that.

Good luck! And let us know how it goes! =)
I was torn between the AT and all season as well and stumbled on another category, On-Road All-Terrain. I finally settled on Continental TerrainContact A/T. ...https://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=ONAT&width=265/&ratio=70&diameter=17&rearWidth=255/&rearRatio=40&rearDiameter=17&performance=ALL

Thanks for the link. I loved Continentals way back 20+ years ago when I did mountain bike racing - outstanding tires. So maybe I can get off my broken-record Nokian bend and seriously consider these Continentals!

Especially since the closest I get to off-roading is driving over some leaves at the recycling center! =D

Thanks! =)

Edit: Ooh, they are available with white lettering! That's something I actually like!!!

Hello Everyone!! I'm currently in the market foe a new set of tires, still on the stock Hankook's at 59K on my 2019 Lariat. I drive mostly highway and live in CT so need something good in the snow & rain around the stock weight. The stock Hankooks were pretty good but looking for something better. I'm probably gonna stay with the stock height after debating going to a 70 instead of a 65.

The best deal I see on tire rack is the Firestone Destination AT/2 with a $100 instant rebate for $787. Also considering the Cooper Discoverer Road & Trail AT or anything else that may be a good all around tire. Looking for real work experience with the brands and if you'd buy them again. This is my 1st truck so I have no idea what to pick!!
I bought Michelin Defender 265/70/18. Perfect for street and highway, 9 rating for rain and 8 rating for snow. Smooth tires, 2' lift on the front of my 19 Lariat

I installed the Firestone Destination XT, 255/75/17 in August.
Just returned from a 5,000 mile road trip - Ohio to Glacier NP, south to Moab and then back home. Had about 500 miles on the tires before heading out. Ran smooth on the interstate, didn't throw rocks like my BFG KO2's would on the several hundred miles of dirt/gravel roads. Only thing close to off road was Willow Springs Road, back way into Arches NP which is sand, rock or sand on rock, no problems at all.

Hey guy, I have a 2020 Ranger L/SC. It came with Bridgestone all season. These tires made my truck ride rough. I just put Hankook Dyna Pro A/T. I thought sure the A/It's were going to make it ride rough also. NOT the case, these tires made such a difference in the ride. The ride is much smoother. I don't know if you had the Dyna Pro A/T . And I don't find them squishy. Please if you switch brands and the ride is smoother please let me know,.

After 4 years and over 40,000 miles, last year I went with the Continental TerrainContact A/T All Terrain 265/60R18 110T Light Truck Tire. My Ranger is used mostly for towing in the spring into fall and skiing in the winter. I didn't want dedicated snow tires, and the Continentals were well reviewed for handling in snow. They did well on snow and ice for an all-season and handle well on the highway.

I’ve got the same size XTs in a C load, they’ve done great in Pac NW desert and western mountain offroad conditions. I’ll be driving from Washington to Utah, 2 weeks in Canyonlands and San Rafael Swell. Permits for White Rim Trail. These tires are lighter weight than their contemporaries, which equals better gas mileage, increased range and less wear on suspension. Solid choice so far.
