  1. Engine shot - Coolant intrusion - 74k miles on my Ford Ranger 2.3L I4 xlt

I bought a used Escape with 2.0 turbo. It threw code for same issue at 72k after a week of ownership. Dealer knew (found a record where they cleared the code and sent to auction). That said, Ford customer service stepped up and paid 75% of the new engine. I am concerned that my Ranger may...
  2. DC-DC Charger Connections???

Ok, I read the XS manual and it also has Engine Running Detection. You do not need a trigger wire, and personally I can envision some problems having one. Disconnect you 7 pin hot on trailer side and let the Orion do its thing.
  3. DC-DC Charger Connections???

My Orion self triggers based on if it detects alternator output. I am not familiar with the XS so YMMV.
  4. DC-DC Charger Connections???

6 ga is working fine with no apparent issues.
  5. DC-DC Charger Connections???

I run a 30amp Orion to charge my 2x230ah batteries. I ran a 6ga pair from my truck battery posts to a bumper anderson plus. I did install a 50 amp fuse where the positive connects to battery. I disconnected the 7 pin hot on the trailer side. So far over a year and the only issue is I use a...
  6. Newbie to towing with a bunch of questions!

This is only my thoughts and data. I installed a RedArc controller and love it. Biggest enemy to mpg is aerodynamic drag. Trailers with a large frontal area kills mileage. 30mph wind at 60 mph I get 7 or 8. 65 with no wind I get 10 to 11. I now use only premium fuel. My Grand Design...
  7. WILDPEAK A/T4W? LT or Standard?

I put AT3Ws on my Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. Did multiple trails in Moab and Sedona, also a large section of Washington BDR and never felt at risk even airing down to 15psi. Plus, they were just killer in snow, slush and ice. If the 4W is equal to the 3W, I wouldn't hesitate. In fact I am a...
  8. Ford Performance Tune question

Just got off with Ford Performance. They are VIN locked and not transferable to different vehicle.
  9. Ford Performance Tune question

    Thanks...that is what I thought
  10. Ford Performance Tune question

A friend had a 2.3L Bronco and traded for a Raptor. He had the tune done and offered to give me the physical unit. I know there is a software download involved and I believe the tunes are serial number specific, but honestly just not sure. Will this tuner work and is there any cost benefit...
  11. New Tire Reccomendations!

I had two sets of Destinations on a Tacoma. Good all around tire, but for weak sidewalls. They did not hold up to rocky trails. Loved them in every other way cept that
  12. Which WDH and/or Sway Control Bar to get?

I bought the Fastway E2 in 1k/10k. My trailer is GD 17MKE. Scale weight loaded is 5040lbs. The hitch is heavier and overkill, but physically doesn't weigh that much more than the 7.5k version. The bars adjust my truck level and after 4k miles of towing my only complaint is the tiny gas tank...
  13. What are you guys towing?

I just finished a week towing my 23 Grand Design 17MKE. Guessing about 5500lbs loaded with empty tanks and everything. 40mph head wind on I84 resulted in 7.5mpg. During 55 to 60 mph areas with no wind, best was 12.5. Truck handled it fine with sufficient power and sway control.
  14. Ford Performance vs. Roush tunes/exhaust

Thanks guys. I think I will simply make my decision after I tow my trailer the first time
  15. Ford Performance vs. Roush tunes/exhaust

This begs the question, I bought a used 21 with Ford certified warranty. Does adding the Ford tune affect that? I think it was 1 year bumper to bumper and 60k 5 year powertrain.
  16. New Tremor Owner Here

Welcome to the addiction. I am looking forward to camping trips in IDEEHOO this coming summer.
  17. Upfitter switches and lights

All great idea's.....decisions, decisions. My passion for extreme long range rimfire competition is competing for Ranger $$$, so we will see what wins.
  18. Upfitter switches and lights

Went and checked your truck mods. Nice. I will eventually do a off road bumper that can hold some lights, but first will be Rock sliders. I used them a lot on my 2016 Cherokee (rocky ridge) and they saved a lot of greif...both on the trails and in the parking lots (that door ding is all on...
  19. Upfitter switches and lights

Yup, I was playing with thier site. We will be buying a travel trailer when we sell our motorhome so may wait until then to get a system. Thanks for the advice.
  20. Upfitter switches and lights

I have a 15 year old Viair thar is still going strong. Since I doubt I will wheel at night, probably no rock lights but am looking at some dual pod lights.
