Hey all,

New owner here too, picked it up last weekend and enjoying it so far. Came from a 2017 Tacoma, and a couple of Escapes before that. Also have an Edge Sport in the garage. Pretty happy with the Ranger so far!

What made you go from the Tacoma to the Ranger? Just curious. I debated heavily before I bought mine so Im always interested in what people liked. I think you cant go wrong with either really.

I was originally sold on the Tacoma because I liked the thought of a smaller truck with off road capability and a manual transmission. I ordered the truck and waited 3-months to get it with the manual. The manual was excellent (the engine and calibration were not, but the manual countered a lot of that), and the truck was extremely capable off road right out of the box, but it proved to be annoying to live with on a daily basis.

I had a lot of persistent squeaks and rattles and vibrations that didn't give me a lot of confidence in how well it was assembled. Stylistically, the interior is excellent, but hard nonadjustable seats, virtually non existent headroom, and what I would deem excessive road noise just got to be too much to live with, especially on longer trips. (My neck and back hurt thinking about it lol)

I put 52,000 miles on the Tacoma in the 2-years I owned it. I never had any catastrophic issues, and my lifetime fuel economy was 18.7mpg. I didn't dislike the Tacoma, but I certainly didn't love it. I think the Ranger is a much more cohesive package that gives more of what I want in a daily driver that is also still extremely capable. A manual trans and the Ranger would be darn near perfect in my opinion, but the 10-speed with the 2.3L is just fine too.

Interesting, we share a lot of the same feelings about it I think. My previous 2 trucks were a 98 Ranger manual and a 2005 Ranger manual. I always looked at the 6-speed manual Tacoma as a grail truck. And being able to get a manual was a huge plus for me. But after I drove all of the midsize trucks in the market then did another test drive in the Tacoma and Ranger I ended up with a Ranger despite going into the buying process assuming I would get a Tacoma. A big thing was the interior room. But like you said overall I think it a slightly more well put together package for what I was looking for. Again I dont think you can go wrong with either, I still like the Tacoma, but for me the Ranger made slightly more sense.

TL here from western Nebraska.....thanks for the add!!! Just @ 2 weeks with our Magnetic SC Lariat FX4 and 2100 miles. Downsized from a 2016 F150 SC 4wd and really liking the Ranger.

I picked up a Lariat Ranger about two weeks ago and I'm absolutely loving it. I drove up to Colorado and traded my beloved 14' Mustang for it and drove it home over the weekend. I've already been on a few adventures and looking forward to many more.

Well, after much research on various models and narrowing it down to a couple.. I went w/Ranger.. will pick it up tomorrow.. Sport/Lariat/Platinum White. Will shoot some pics when I get it.

Congratulations - I know you will love it! I like the Platinum white better than I thought I would. It looks so good in the sunshine. The pearl really makes it come alive.

I've never owned a white vehicle before and I kind of like it. Much cooler to get in when it is hot out and it does tend to hide dirt and scratches better than a darker color (which is why I bought it).

Yeah, my cx-5 is similar, love how clear whites and silvers always look vs other colors but the darker ones are very sharp. Can't wait to get some miles on it.

I love the look of the darker colors, but they are harder to keep looking good - especially for a truck that you want to use as a truck.

I look forward to driving mine every chance I get.

On June 28 we picked up our Lariat, FX4, Tri-Coat White, Ranger after waiting almost 5 months to get it. We actually ordered a 2 wheel drive unit with a locking differential but discovered a couple of weeks ago that my dealer did not include the locking differential on the order. We were really bummed, but they found this FX4 with all the exact extras we had ordered. Actually glad we got the FX4 since I like the way it rides better than the 2 wheel drive units. Our dealer gave us a 2 wheel drive loaner for a couple of weeks so I had plenty of time to see how it did on the road before getting the FX4.

I have really been enjoying reading and making a few posts on the Forum. Nice to have a community willing to share their experiences and advice.
