hey everyone. just got a 2020 xlt fx4 in rapid red. years ago i had rangers- 1993 2.3, 2000 trailhead, then a 2002 fx4, the original with a manual tcase. after rangers stopped being made- went to tacomas. 2011 single cab 4x4, then 2017, and a 2016 dclb 4x4. tried everything with that 3.5 and tranny, tuning helped but other issues got to be a hassle.
so im back.
used to be on offroadrangers and dezertrangers back in the day

Great looking truck and good color choice. Did you find a new 2020 on the lot somewhere? One tip for new FX4 owners - it’s not just you, the suspension is a bit floaty. You can make a huge upgrade for cheap going to eibach kit or spend as much as you want for nicer stuff. This is one upgrade that’s almost universally praised.

i did find it on the lot, left over. got a very good deal, and sold my tacoma for more than i paid, which was crazy.

i am seeing that the suspension is very soft, doesnt really bother me too much. my tacoma had 6112/5160 so this is a bit different haha. ill upgrade down the road for sure. probably the ford fox kit or 6112/5160 if bilstein can make their zinc coating hold up for more than 6 months.

My order of 6112s just shipped. I hadn’t heard about issues with zinc coating. What’s the story there? Went with 5100s on the rear.

Ah okay, not something that I need to worry too much about here in Southern Cali. May coat'em anyway.
