One complication about using X Plan is that it expressly forbids any negotiation or additional discounts on the new vehicle. We haven't discussed any details yet as I'm doing this through X-Plan over email but obviously it will come up as leverage when we put the final deal together. With the additional $750 Ford discount on top of X-Plan I'm not sure how much wiggle room they will have but we may talk dealer add-ons or something. To be honest, as much as this wait is killing me, the rational part of me knows it's just more time to save before pulling the trigger. BTW, everyone on here is awesome! Between you and BlueOvalFourms you have kept me up to date.
However it also says dealer installed options are not part of the X Plan.X-Plan - Ford Partner
- Unless prohibited by your state law, X-Plan customers may accept items or services of nominal value (i.e. $50 or less dealership cost) as a gift or reward in connection with an X- Plan sale or lease. All gifts or rewards offered by the dealership for sponsoring an X-Plan sale or lease must be comparable with gifts or rewards offered by the dealership on retail sales or leases, and may not exceed $50 in value (dealership cost).
Your best method of negotiation is to have them give you a generous discount on any dealer installed options you like. Are any other items covered through the Plan?
No. Dealer installed options, conversion packages, extended warranties, accessories, etc., are not covered by the Plan and must be agreed upon between you and the dealer.
