My wife has been tolerant of my vehicle obsession.... until last night. I spent the day at OK4WD in New Jersey having a winch installed. She'd known that was coming for a while.
What she didn't know until last night was that I also bought a fridge. It wasn't pretty when she found out. I don't hide stuff from her so I just kept my head down and took the beating.
This morning she asked me to pick up butter and chicken thighs to cook for dinner. On the way out, she reminded me not to forget an insulated shopping bag. I said "Sweetie, I don't need an insulated bag". She said "why not? I said "I have a fridge."
There was a palpable pause, then all I heard was a grunting "Hmph". I said nothing more cuz it's never good to poke the bear.
...On the way to the market now.

That's kinda how I see it playing out if I buy a smoker. Pissed off wife until she tastes that first smoked salmon or wings.

The coolerator was crammed with TV dinners and ginger ale,
and when Brett found work, the little money comin' worked out well ,
but as far as the wife , it goes to show you never can tell...

Chuck Berry everybody , Chuck Berrry ... he pissed his wife off also...

Jokes aside, if your cooking for just you, her, and a kid or two, consider the 14" Weber Smokey Mountain cooker. It will last a lifetime and produce plenty if food. It's *VERY* easy on the wallet and has become my daily driver. I have all three... the 14, the 18, and the 22.

I was think going digital electric, ya know, so it needs minimal to no supervision. Set it and forget.

I'm sure glad my SO doesn't care what I buy. I just bought another 12v fridge/freezer last night because it was to good a deal to pass up. lol She just said "that's nice it'll be easier for you to load it into the truck for grocery runs".

Need pics! Where did you install it (assuming Grumpaw is not your neighbor and posted an actual picture)
So, I wouldn't quite call it an "installation".
It's just sitting in the bed, but it's plugged in to my Wolf Haus 12 volt accessory plug that attaches to the factory wire tucked up under the fender. That's a 20 Amp circuit and works great for this use. Only problem is, it goes off an hour or two after you shut down the truck. (Like the 12v power in the dash) Eventually, I'll have an aux battery back there.
