Decked redesigned their drawer systems and accessories and the intro video features a Ranger. What do yall think? I personally dont have a decked but have flirted with the idea time and again.

I like the improvements but for me, the system still seems to sit up too high above the wheel humps. Because I have a topper, which limits the height of storage or headroom, I would gladly give up drawer depth for more space above the deck. A shallower drawer would be great for my needs and likely for those who often camp in the back of their truck. For others, it’s all about maximizing storage in the drawer and I totally get that - afterall, it’s a storage system first and a platform second.

Maybe they need two models - Standard and Low Profile.

Same problem I ran into with my bed rack. I feel like I actually lost volume in storage when comparing multi-stacked totes vs the decked system that could basically only take 1 layer of large totes on top. The other complaints I would have had are addressed by the new design.

The old design was very bloated regarding space on the sides of the product, it basically took away a lot in return for little.

I really like the system - I usually keep a tote at the front of the bed with tools and recovery gear in it. That's a pain in the arse to get to when I need it. And keeping it close to the tailgate means it has to be moved for me to use the bed....

And the price is reasonable for a weatherproof storage system.

Ill probably use their military discount program and get a set this year...

I have a 2020 XLT FX2 Scab. I have contemplated this system. I concluded that since I only would utilize it only for camping, it would limit storage on top of the platform using a tonneau. Can't afford both it and a midsize cap. I already have 6 Front Runner storage boxes that won't fit inside the drawers due to a slight height discrepancy. My goal was to obtain a tray system that would slide in about 10 in above the bed floor allowing under storage of these boxes and could be slept on top of but completely slide out for bottom access after unloaded, without drilling into my drop in bedliner or otherwise. I'm thinking a better solution would be to unload at the campsite, cover my goods with a tarp if it is to rain and sleep in the full bed under my EZup, or, I could sleep in a single roll-a-cot, which is the only one I have found that fits into a 6 ft bed with 10in space underneath for the FR boxes. This would leave storage on both sides and under the cot and keep me off of the bed floor. After all, caps aren't totally waterproof and water can seep in and under a mattress. BTW, not a fan of blowups anyway. Trying to save money on a fixed income while minimizing setup upon arrival at the campsite. It saves an old man's back. One other option is to use only a rollup tonneau for travel coverage and use my EZUp with a tarp for over the truck bed coverage for rain/sun coverage once arriving at camp. I use a tarp over the EZup which solves the moisture issue since even after a sealing treatment, rain drips through. I want to have the basic setup done in 15 min upon arrival. Could also load the FR boxes on top of the Decked drawers and put goods that must stay dry in the drawers while still using the EZup for sleeping coverage. Decisions, decisions.

Looks like they took out the ammo cans, which I love. I mounted my ARB compressor in there and its perfect...

I guess they have a use for some folks. I know the tradesmen I know haul a butt load of 'stuff'. Seems many of them have a panel van, but this would allow them to get some minimal materials on top when they need it.

Niche market IMO.

After watching that vid, this popped up in my feed. I like the tail light storage system. I guess similar to the bed rail storage offered on the RAM, I think it's the RAM.

They replaced them with some drop in bins and made the lids lockable... Shrug. I saw a video where they made the new containers more squared off to better fit stuff - like mounting air compressors.

I'll likely find a local dealer with them and see it in person.

It really would fix my issue of carrying a tote in the bed with my recovery gear and tools in it... It is such a pain in the dick to have to climb into the bed, undo a ratchet strap open the tote, rummage to get my tool bag for the one socket I need...

I've always liked the idea of the Decked system, but for my own uses, I think I still need the flexibility of using totes, even though that is imperfect, also.

I like the idea of one wide drawer over 2 smaller drawers... I was thinking about it the other day the amount of flexibility of storing stuff increases...

But with the tiny storage under the back seat, and the minimal behind the set storage (more like toss it in and hope the seat closes) it gives the ability to keep my machete, tools, reflective vests etc easily accessible... And keeps the majority of the bed usable...

I don't think, on our trucks anyway, it will be a place to store all the tools and stuff for a tradesperson. But it is an improvement over a truck bed box, or totes, or the toss it in the backseat and hope for the best...?

You’re right John. It’s not a place to store all the tools and stuff for a tradesperson….

I'm surprised they released it after all the Expos this year... Might have been the prime time to demo them.

I am surprised that i have not seen a bed tool box for the Ranger. Something that is either narrow and tight against the cab or shallow so it floats above the bed.
