I’m a direct descendant from the Mayflower. Just reading through family history and it tells the story. Folks today got it pretty easy. They would never have survived if living 100 years ago. They would have put them in a sanitarium and closed the door never to be heard from again.

this is the price of socialism.
Yep, we keep hoping socialist giveaways to businesses provides different result. But it never does. They seem to cry poor and get money every time A tear is shed. One thing to remember is they dont have to take those socialist tax deductions and cuts. They can pay full price if they choose. I wonder how many do??

I don't have a problem with CA residents and what they do to themselves. What I do have a problem with is when they get tired of how much they F'd their state and government up and move to a new state and begin infecting it with their bullshit.

The definition of "insanity" comes to mind.
Stop moving to Texas unless you plan on seeing the light and change your voting pattern. Never will I understand the mass exodus to TX by the Cali folks that still vote the same way in their new state. Leaving the state that they voted into the situation they are leaving and continue to do the same?????

I am in the same boat here in Oregon. The whole west coast is screwed. Everyone votes yes on new taxes. I always vote no what ever the tax is. It still always get voted in. In Oregon they are getting the electric cars now with higher registration fees due to they don't pay gas taxes. It still sucks bad. I could major rant but won't.

Dang Stacey, that's tough. Sadly here in North Carolina we now have a Governor that's a follower instead of a leader. I expect to soon hear that he will asking for a gas tax hike, because he wants to be just like the big boys.

The only thing I miss about the N'east is the food, specifically Italian and seafood. We still haven't found one decent place that serves either out here. Other than that I have zero desire to ever return and still haven't gone back since moving 6 years ago. Plus I cant do super cold areas now after living out here.

I laughed when one of my customers said "you want good Italian go to Olive Garden". :puke: You're talking to someone who's grandparents are Italian and owned their own restaurant back in the day.
hahaha, that’s fun you mention that because it’s the same thing here in Midland. Olive Garden for Italian good. And I also desperately miss independent pizza shops.

Love Texmex and Mexican food though! So I guess that makes up for it.

The area I'm from had so many mom n pop places which I really miss. Out here it chain after chain everywhere you go. There are a couple independent (I don't dare call them mom n pop) and they're just ok.

Yes luckily Mexican is my other favorite and my gf is Hispanic/Hawaiian so I'm lucky there as she can cook very good. ??

Agreed it took too long for it and we resultingly had terribly crumbled under maintained roads. But they were previously poorly maintained before hand due to the large state we have and the number of people using the roads. Is there an instant solution to our 100+ billion dollar infrastructure problem caused by years of neglect and population usage? No. But is SB1 positively affecting road maintenance, yes. But I am plenty happy to see that directly after SB1 the roads started being maintained at a higher rate, still needs ton of progress and $$$.
Very well stated. People always whine and cry about the state of infrastructure but refuse to show how it will be paid for other than taxes. I live in Kansas and the roads here are a joke, but at least I have cheap gas.

Ah California. Tax the crap out gasoline to get people to buy electric cars, but then beg people not to charge said electric cars because the state's failing electric grid is on the verge of total collapse.

Pros and cons for sure. Taxes are tough, they directly affect us but we indirectly experience the results. Not saying all taxes are good but we definitely have to look into how are money is being spent and vote or not vote for it.

Don’t forget the tax write off for electric cars too! Fun state, I know I’ll miss the weather but I want to try something different in a couple years. See what wins, weather and limited freedom or more freedom and actual seasons. Even bush crafting takes a hit because of fire danger regulations.

VA went up today also. But they made possession of 1oz of MJ legal, so that people how don't get drug tested won't notice.

I’ve only been in Texas two years and I get triggered by Cali license plates ?

I have to tell myself not to judge before I know, they might be one of the good ones escaping hell. Although I personally see many many posts on social media leading me to believe it’s not a meme - there’s so many that live in DFW that signify their voting pattern. You should have seen all the anti gun comments FROM ex Californians before Gov. Abbot signed the Constitutional Carry Bill. Long story short but I got zapped from Twitter because I couldn’t control my pro gun stance. I’m glad though, reading some of their drivel made my blood pressure rise. Why the fuck move to a state that’s “right wing” or “conservative.” Absolute idiots. When you ask them they’ll give some snarky response about turning Texas blue.

Like you I don't have a problem with taxes as long as they're going to the right place. But, it always seems like everyone has their hand in the cookie jar taking a piece for themself.

I lived through this when they stole all the money when Boston had the Big Dig project. It was "supposed to cost 2.2B and wound up at 14.6B most of it coming from our wallets! This was one of the biggest highway robberies ever built! There were trucks delivering steel and other equipment to the project and then another truck would haul it off someplace else. I could go on forever about this but basically yes we need a major infrastructure overhaul but who is going to watch over this and make sure we don't get robbed in broad daylight?

The title sounds like it could be referring to the R5G site. lol

The Money Pit: Could IT Have Prevented Budget Overruns in Boston's Big Dig?

https://www.cio.com/article/2442280/the-money-pit--could-it-have-prevented-budget-overruns-in-boston-s-big-dig-.html#:~:text=The story broke on feb. 1, 2000: the, billion. People were outraged; no one was surprised.
