The same thinking they have when it's necessary to remove the entire cab to repair some of the diesel F250/F350's.
Yes, I was astounded when I saw a Super Duty cab being yanked to work on an ambulance chassis-cab configuration motor years ago.

Ford's not the only one, in order to remove the automatic transmission on my lowly '02 Honda CR-V, the entire K subframe must be removed from the vehicle...

Im not sure of the sales numbers on the Ranger versus the S10 back then , I assume pretty close or slightly more S10's sold ?, but now with the ones still on the road it has to be 20 to 1 ...or more ... pretty rare to see S10 around here , I mean any worth looking at , LOTS of Rangers still rolling ? around and looking DAMN good doing it... I'm not sure if any Dakota's are still around ?, never see those...
Good point. I haven't seen a S-10 in a long time. Keep in mind though that the last S-10's sold in North America was in 2003. I believe the Ranger sold until 2011.

Shes a beauty, its insane to look at how small trucks were our rangers are the size of old f150's and the rangers are the size of mavericks lol and new 150's are as big as old superduties
Your right about that. I was looking for an F-150 when it dawned on me to check my garage dimensions (house build in 85). The 2018 F-150 Extended Cab length would have given me only 1/2" clearance from the front of the garage wall to the inside of the closed garage door! The Ford spec sheet on this truck showed it a little over 19' long... hard to image a vehicle almost 2 stories long . Really glad to have opted for the Ranger...a little over 10" clearance to walk in front of it and 10" behind it...really nice fit!

For some reason I don't have any pictures of my 99 that I can find but it was similar to this one. Previous owner optioned it out almost to the max but no sunroof. It was a great truck I used it but didn't abuse it. Paid $10,000 for it in 2006 and sold it for $6000.00 in 2019

Yes, I know I've posted before. 2010 Ranger XLT with 20K miles when I traded it in on my 2019 Lariat. One of many things I wish I could go back on.

I was digging around. And found a couple pics of my 2007 Ranger. That hurt letting that go!

I still love that model. We have two 2008s just one house down (one on each side of the street, including a Race Red one!).

At least someone like me could reach stuff in the bed!

Phil is right about that 4.0 L’s fondness for gasoline. I loved my previous Rangers but they had the mpg performance of a full size truck. My 2001…

No pics of my ‘91 or ‘96. ?
Race Red for the win!

And were these the models with the side-facing rear jump seats?

I’m going to be replacing mine with a 6g late next year. It will be a rough day when she goes.

Here's my 2009...
First pic is the day I brought it home in 2018, after it was "gifted" to my by our little old neighbor who's husband had passed away. We watched over her and I did odd jobs around her house up until the time when she went to an assisted living facility. Only had a bit over 22,000 miles.
Second pic is just before I sold it just after I bought the 2021. Was sad to sell it but got an unreal amount of $$$ for it.

David,
My 1999 and 2011 (2011 was the last year Ford sold the 4g's) had fold-out jump seats as shown in this pic...

Hi Phil,

4.0L turned out to be a very robust motor....It had its teething problems in the development phase but Engine Engineering delivered in the end... Not particularly fuel efficient though.....

Best,
Phil
My '01 XLT Supercab with the 4.0L 2WD averaged 21-22 mpg on 87 E0. My 2006 4.0 4WD averaged 19-20 mpg on the same fuel. Never measured the highway mileage on either but it was a bit better.

Averaging about 22 mpg with my 2019 using 93 E0. Estimated 180 RWHP in the '01 vs. 305 RWHP (est.) in my 2019 (Ford Ecoboost Performance Tune). And the '19 is a larger, heavier vehicle too.

My '88 2.9L had an estimated 110 RWHP and we thought it was 'sporty'. :)
