How do you get the a-pillar trim off? I fed my cord into it with a plastic pry tool, now I have a slight gap and it’s bugging me. I’d like to take it off, and make sure it’s in there snug, but I can’t for the life of me find a video on how to do it.

Get a pry tool in along the top edge. Pull away from the a-pillar on a bit of a diagonal. The driver side has a plastic strap that keeps the trim from flying off of the air bag deploys. This only allows you a couple inches of clearance.

Some clean installs compared to mine. An interesting thread for sure.

I have the Ford/Thinkware F200 front/rear (cabin) from the Ford Accessory Catalog. Was installed incorrectly by a 3rd party accessory shop the dealer uses. 16GB SD card that came with the unit failed in short order - replaced with a 32GB SD card from Walmart - formatted card on my laptop computer. Added the GPS accessory plug in 'button' at a later date.

Very pleased with the setup once it got sorted. GPS 'button' accessory is below the rear facing camera in the lower image.

This worked perfectly, thank you!

I was able to run to AutoZone and get a plastic pry-tool which made the job a lot more easier.

Glad it worked!

Those pry tools are really good to have. I used to install car audio/video & security for years and I have so many different ones. In a bind, wrap a screwdriver with electrical tape.

Just wanted to share my installation notes on a hardwired to the interior fuse block powered dash cam and how i ran the wiring.

I used a BlueSkySea B1W dash cam from Amazon. I have this model in both my vehicles and it works great. Just be sure to upgrade to the latest firmware if you have an iphone.

Links to what i used:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0773FXVKL/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_o98pFb8QVQNZ1

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X7MY854/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_k98pFbDA57PPZ

For the installation, i wanted to hide the wiring behind the mirror. Didn't for the life of me know how to get that cover off but after a little effort, it just pops off. As you can see in the pictures it's just held in by clips.

The basics of the installation are running the power cord along the driver's a-pillar and along the headliner to the middle of the windshield. Then drop it down and i tucked it under the factory wiring for the camera there. I did file out a relief in the cover at the bottom for the power wire to come out.

I ran the cable along the a-pillar using velcro to hold the wire in place. Drop it down along the frame and under the steering wheel.

A tap a fuse requires a ground and usually there's a nice ground by the fuse block but in the Ranger it's a bit difficult. So instead i used the support brace as you see as my ground. Worked perfectly.

For an ignition source, I used fuse 35. Shout out to @dmeyer302 for letting me know that was an ignition on and open fuse slot to use.

If you haven't used a fuse tap it's pretty simple. You just pull the fuse out, put two fuses in both slots (one if for the original purpose and the other is for your power draw for the camera) and then plug it in. Attach your ground and done.

Lastly I just had to clean up the wiring and tuck everything nicely so it wouldn't rattle.

I only see one tap, did you do a constant hot even when off for the parking feature to work?

My Rexing has a power all the time which is a yellow wire and power when the ignition is on or engine running and that is the red wire. Does yours only have one power need?
Yes, mine's only got one lead - could either do ACC on only, or live always. My parking mode is pretty poor though. It takes about 6 seconds for it to start recording, which is too late to catch a bump.

But I do get a lot of vids of closing the tailgate when I go get something!

It does read when the engine starts and turn on, but maybe that's the shock thing (night mode) because if I sit and idle for a while, it will turn off.

Overall, I'm happy with my dashcam, despite the parking thing but since I'm in a small town and it's always in the driveway at night, that mode isn't very important for me.\

But when my wife was still working, she did have a truck scrape her while parked and it was a hit and run, but by the time the cam woke up, the truck was gone. I say a truck because of how high the damage was and where she was parked (on a curve of a long driveway at her university.

So do you have a cam? If so which one?

I have the Rexing V1P Pro but recently bought the Rexing R4-4 Channel Dash Cam. I was looking at your post as my V1P Pro is wired to the cigarette lighter, but I intend to wire the R4-4 tot he fuse box and it has two power wires.

Wow, I've never seen that one - it's really innovative!

My worry is that I'd only catch a side collision if it hits right in the front or right at the rear bumper - and it would not catch much of it.

Yours has no issue with that and I like that you can pivot them as you want, your not limited to the single fixed width lens.

Since you have a Lariat, I believe a Dongar will work for you. Although it wasn't as hard to run the wire down through the A pillar, when I did my wife's car, the Dongar was just much neater.

I believe you'd still run a wire to the rear, but with a small plastic trim tool makes it pretty easy. The scariest part for me was peeling of the door weatherstripping but it went back into place easily and has been fine for over a year.

I think the Ranger uses the 3-pin one (link) and here's a video of a '22 Lariat install:

Good luck and, of course, post pics! =D

Amazon link for the 3-pin, but also make sure that's right. I did a quick search here and that seems to be what most use:

Wow, thank you, I am going to check out that Donger. It looks like it would be so much easier.

The Donger is awesome. Complete install took all of 20 minutes.

Ok, so I tried the Donger but as near as I can tell, when I plug it in, in passthrough, I have no power at the USB. I checked the fuse, and it appears to be good. Any ideas?
