I, like others, saw the holes in my truck bed when I took delivery. Wondered what they were for, but didn't ask the sales guy. I mean really, there are several open mounting holes in the bed, so I didn't think twice about it. Once I got on here....DOH!
I located the 2 tie downs and 4 bolt package. Paid the $80 and installed them. My 20 LXT has the sprayed in bed liner. Cleaning out the holes was the biggest pain in the butt to get those things installed.

Yep. There were more than a couple of empty bolt holes in the beds of every Ranger I looked at, so I had no reason to think Ford or the dealer were shortchanging me. I ordered the tie downs and bolts so I can install them before I have the Line-X bed liner installed.

SO, has anyone found something else that would bolt right in?
I'm not gonna pay $70 for two tie down hooks and bolts, especially when they were 1/3 that price originally.

Some here are using D rings like these
D-Rings

I would prefer something that would use both bolt holes. I found these on amazon too but don't know if they would fit. - AS OF 3/3/21 I'm pretty sure these are too small.
MOEBULB 4-Pack Tie Down Hooks

or these may fit in the larger holes in the bed, may need bigger toggle bolts.

I would try the first two, that toggle bolt one looks like trouble.

LOL, I have to chuckle a little because I was the EXACT SAME way about these tie downs. Scouring Amazon and others because of the high price for OE.
Then finally I said to myself I paid all this money for this truck, what the hell and I gave in. I want it to look factory not hooptie.
I find myself using them all the time and haven't looked back at the expense.

I know they won't match, neither will OEM ones. I have the Ford sprayed in bed liner, so my tie downs are coated in that. Sure, I could paint them, but the texture difference will show.

This could benifit some members here. If I find some I like, I will replace the four originals too. Sell those to the folks who want to keep it original.

im one of those lucky ones i guess who got a full complement of tie downs, of which i rarely use the middle two. the added weight affects my fuel mileage.

this thread and others is getting to be one of the most prolific threads of Ranger5g...it just wont die.
i bet we will be into the 2023 and 2024 models and people will still be whining about missing tie downs.
with no viable cheap alternatives to match the factory originals, I have a solution....

help end the madness, let these tie down threads die a slow death into the archives, and become a man at the same time.....

Or...let Ford be responsible and provide the 6. That's the man in all of us. Stand up and get what we paid for. Don't advertise and claim "ooooooooo...it's in the fine print." Everyone of us, at some point, is tired of being screwed by the corporate system. I do my own maintenance, expect value and give value on my relationships and contracts. Ford...give us what we paid for!!! Maybe, if you can do that...you'd establish trust and confidence in your broken system.

I used the 2019 official ranger brochure to get my dealer to provide them. It specifically states that 6 tie down points are provided
Thanks! I'm printing this out and taking it with me when they fix my dash panels that were thrashed during dash removal/replacement for the climate control module change out. Totally ridiculous if you actually use your bed to haul anything. I have needed those middle tie downs so many times!

Me too, suck it up cupcake. I do have to spray mine with bed liner spray to make them match. I find myself needing the middle tie downs all the time.

1) you didn't pay for them...unless you can find the spread sheet from ford that itemizes every penny and where it was spent, that's a claim you simply cannot make. you can feel ripped off like any normal Karen would, but you still didn't pay for them if they weren't there.
2) they no longer advertise 6 after a certain point. anyone in the middle of the change had a fighting chance to get some on goodwill from a dealer willing to absorb the cost
3) Ford is profit driven. everyone is...you even said it yourself about getting what you paid for.
4) there's bigger fish to fry than tie downs.
5) lets talk thin paint and how much we are ripped off because they only put on a light coat. they save millions on half the paint. paint is worth a hell of a lot more than a couple pieces of metal
The attitude is the same. Ford is suppose to be Quality One. Whether its paint or tie downs...make it right.
I'm sure Ford will provide that spreadsheet you spoke of. You can be an Alice and take their word for it. Give me the spreadsheet. I'll argue on that point. If I didn't pay for it...fine, but I'll bet that's not the impression Ford gives you. Give me what I signed for...not the fine print.

Ford (and you, as well) gave me a pretty clear impression that you didn't pay for it. Ford made a mid-year running change to how the vehicle gets manufactured, and documented it. You paid your dealer for a pickup with all the listed options built according to the current manufacturing specs.

Bottom line, they gave you what you signed for. You don't get to eliminate contract language after the fact just because you don't like it and/or it is written in a different font. If you want to eliminate clauses or otherwise change a contract, you need to do that before you sign it.

If you want to try to hassle your dealer into giving you the tie-downs, by all means knock yourself out. If they refuse and you still feel that you have a solid argument that the sales contract hasn't been fully fulfilled, take it to small claims court.
