I had my first oil change around 9k miles . I was averaging 24.7 mpg before and now it’s 26.3 and climbing with 87 octane and city/highway combined. I made a 1200 mile round trip to Alabama (Roll Tide ) and back and I’m pretty satisfied with the Ranger.

Probably didn't have much to do with the oil change, just the engine getting broken in.
I don't know much about the 2.3 but the three trucks I had previously were all 4.0 SOHC's and that engine didn't really loosen up and break in until about 20,000 miles.

I've been bitchin about my mpg since we bought it in Dec 2020.
It started at 18mpg for a few months then 19mpg for several tanks
then 20mpg for a few more. Last 2 were 21.5, which is city/hwy, what
I was expecting from the beginning, last tank was 24.75mpg.
Last tank was only on a 200km run hwy & truck computer, but
in winter we did hwy & it was 18mpg.
We have 6k miles on it now, lets see with a few more tanks what it does.
Gas used is 87 top tier, all but last tank was hand calculated.
We don't drive aggressive but my wife seems to be more
then me on takeoff's.

12,000 miles on my 2020, and I average 22 between tanks. I have some city, and then a 65mph run for 15 miles, to and from work. Most of the time the 65mph run turns into 75-80mph just so I don't get run off the road, even in the "slow" lane. Colorado is seriously road-raging nowadays.

Cold air and winter mix fuel equals less mpg. I see at least 2.4 mpg difference between winter and summer.

The 2.3l loves hot weather. Just made a 600+ mile trip. 92 degrees. All highway. Cruise set on 70 or 75 depending on signs. Averaged 30.8 mpg.

The overall mileage for the Ranger is really impressive. Many people myself included have found it gets a little better mileage after it's been tuned. Mine has the 5 Star 93 Perf. tune and it averages 25-26 mpg for the tank in a mix of 60/40 city/highway, and will easily average 28-29 mpg on a road trip. That's even with two adults, two kids and the bed full of camping gear (stuffed underneath the tonneau cover)

Tremor here, just under 1000 miles in and averaging about 20.5mpg. First 500 miles or so I babied it a bit but have been my usual aggressive self since then, probably a 70/30 highway/city mix. After the first 500 miles I reset one of my trips and have been about 21mpg since then... Very happy with the mileage so far as I expected to get under 19 with the way I drive, and I can still probably do better than that as the engine breaks in more, I add a tonneau cover and I get a tune.

I’m on my 2nd 5th gen Ranger. The 2019 Lariat 4x2 crew got outstanding fuel economy. I have a 30 mile commute to work and it would get over 32 mpg averaging about 50 mph. Speed limit is 55 and there are 3 small towns with 45 limits to slow things down. On the interstate, things varied. If cruise was set on 75, the average dropped to 28. If set at 65, it would get 30. No reason to ever complain about that in a 4,300lb +\- truck.
The 2021 XLT 4x4 crew is a different subject.
In all those same scenarios, it’s 4-5 mpg lower. Now, it’s still breaking in, so I’ll not get frustrated yet. I’m considering getting either the Ford Performance tune or the 5-Star. Doing research on them now.

Dont rule out Livernois for your tune.

Have the livernois installed. Got 5 tunes, controller, for 499 i think it was. Might have been 399.

Best support out there IMO. Those guys are awesome.

Gained a crap load of power, and MPG increased as well. If i stay off the pedal. Not easy. Lol.

I know winter takes it's toll as all my other vehicles would lose 100km on a tank in winter.
24mpg is fine by me but, if it would have been just winter, I should have had 24mpg by May.
I'll see what it does from now on.
