Ok I am debating on trading my 1999 26 year old Taco in on a Maverick?? My Taco has sure been a great truck. Special ordered it with V6 and automatic tranny. SR5 package, sunroof SCAB and a super killer stereo. Now I am wanting my retirement vehicle as this is a hybrid 34-40 mpg. I am getting 16 MPG during the winter and all mainly short trips to work and back with my Ranger Lucille and about 18 with the Taco. I plan on keeping my Ranger as long a possible for camping, long trips and towing my tent trailer. The Maverick and Taco are about the same length but different bed sizes and two door compared to 4 door and height and width. I really don't need the 4 doors but maybe when I retire I will have some passengers LOL? I will probably sell the Taco outright to get the most money. What do you think??? I sure love that Eruption Green color it looks better in the bright sunlight.

The older Tacoma's were the best ones and as you know pretty much indestructible. I do like the idea of the hybrid in the Maverick but it seems like every new vehicle out there today has some sort of issue. I think I would hold on to the Taco (if possible) and would get the Maverick and if after the first year you really like it then sell the Tacoma and add an extended warranty to the Maverick and enjoy it.

Wow, Mark, you really take great care of your vehicles - that Taco looks mint and that Maverick looks pretty cool. I have no words of wisdom or thoughts on justifying buying or selling them - no insights or reasoning, just my opinion.

Do it, get the Maverick, sell the Toyota. Hopefully, you get top dollar.

Oh yeah, almost forgot…Go Ducks!

Duke it's kind of funny as I get comments all the time when people ask about the Tacoma and I say it's 25 years old and they are flabbergasted. I payed hard earned money for my vehicles and toys so I have always taken care of them. This is a really tough decision for me???? My Taco still runs like a champ.

It’s always a tough call, Mark. I see some of the folks on here who still have 4g Rangers and they are like new - never get driven but so hard to part with. Probably because they are SuperCabs. ;)

Then there are those who sell theirs and lament it later. Again, because they are SuperCabs! ?

Good Luck with your decision. ? That Mav sure looks good, though.

You’ll miss that Taco if you get rid of it.
Truck owners admire slick old trucks like yours and the Ins. is cheap.

Have you got room for a Mercedes as your retirement vehicle?

Zero chances I’m giving up that taco for a maverick. That tacos going another 25 years. That maverick won’t go 15. Get the maverick if you want it but you’ll regret letting that taco go for it.

I'd keep the Taco. Lower taxes and insurance, cheaper to maintain / repair, and biggest reason of all. You KNOW what you got.

Sometimes, you just want to get something different... and that is OK too.

My daughter has a Maverick. I think she told me the battery is a $2K expense.

Choose wisely.

The ecoboost make the compromise of a maverick less appealing too. However some of those original hybrid escapes really put on some miles. I have only heard good things about them.
